what to do.

My kit is coming in this coming week. Aside from everything in the first post and making sure the front drive belt isnt't too tight, I'm gonna go with stock spec shock oil wt, 5k rear diff, and 20k front diff. Is there anything I'm missing? Also, any other recommendation for front diff oil besides 20k for starting?

most people I know are running 30,000 front. I bought a tube but dont feel like ripping it apart right now. LOL

RX8 Settings:
Current Limiter - 80
Timing Advance - 20 (Start low until I find the right gearing)
93/20 - 7min - 109* ESC / 112* Motor
93/22 - 7min - 100* ESC / 110* Motor
Condition - Street testing - 70* outside temp
Lots of WOT, Braking, turns, etc.
Temps could either go higher or lower at the track.
My local track is Outdoor packed dirt - medium to low traction.

20t was undergeared. It had loads of torque and top end was not so good.
With 22t - the bottom end calmed down a bit and the top end really woke up.
Big difference in performance - yet temps were better.
I will try 23 or 24 next and see how it goes.
Might have to decrease Current Limiter if track is really loose.

How big is your track? I run on a tighter track so I like the torque down low. I haven't raced mine yet to really determine if that is right setup though.

Brushless Gearing Guide - Submit your gearing to the database to help others out. It's still in beta, and doesn't work with stupid IE8. Works with IE9 and FireFox 4 though.

Is this a replacement for "come see this"?

Would there be a use or need to list both 32p and 48p pinions and spurs?

Hey you got at least one of the IE's to work, you are doing something right.

Has anyone seen the AE sway bars out in the hobby shops yet? I saw the pic posted on here but I think it was a teaser by hopper.

i think it's best to just list the ratio and then with the pitch, then actual gears used as a note.

ThunderbirdJunkie changed his front diff oil to 50k upon some recommendations.

Push is an understatement:weird:

1st race (finally) with mine.
1st heat was spent getting used to the truck running clicker locked, was kinda slow feeling, got 2nd and had fun.
2nd heat I tried the clicker :D truck is a blast to drive, like a 2wd on steroids, but WAY more traction, shocks felt pretty good (stock, gone through) still kinda slow feeling. Great battles.

Enough of the kinda slow feeling, I hooked up my Hotwire, and saw the current limiter was at 80  I cranked it to 100 (off) and turned up the timing.:ha:

Main. Holeshot, battled 2 laps and checked out, ran flawless, had the missing power now, truck performed very very smooth and nice, many commented how nice and planted it looked, and I drove a decent race and got first by about half a lap.

Thoughts:
:tire:When I get my hands on swaybars, lookout! I think the rear needs it the most.
:tire:I really like the clicker, when I had it functional, this truck will turn as good as the 2wd FT version I have!! It took a bit to get used to it but I am really digging it, I turned inside several other SCs for a pass.:sneaky:
:tire:Ran M3 Snipers all day, they were absolutely velcro gripping.
:tire:Will go up on shock fluid one step thicker from stock.

With 30k in my front diff, it turns extremely tight on both hard packed clay and on loose, loamy dirt. Works great, no push.

Sweet. Got the front end apart, dumping (well, trying to) the 50k. This stuff is almost as thick as the oil ThunderbirdJunkie drained from his last flip car's engine:eek:

kamahaobuilt13 06-11-2011 08:56 PM

what if both 30k diff was ran front and rear?

Maybe in the next few weeks, we'll see.

you'd have no rear traction, or at least a lot less
