SC10 4x4 Thread
The AVID clutch is specifically designed to get rid of the problems from the large diameter 3 plate clutches in 10th scale 2wd. The large diameter clutches are over-kill with too much torque capacity and have sticking problems. They still are locked solid for 90% of the track...not a true clutch. The triad is designed to give you adequate slip to keep the tires planted and still have the drive when you need it.
I've run the Triad and VTS more than probably anyone and the VTS is an improvement over stock in a 2wd, but it still doesn't offer near the smooth feel as the Triad.

I thought it was a 0.3 shim to be used under the sun gear?
(ie. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...r-5x15x03mm-10
) Or do you only use the 0.3 with the small outside shim as well?
So...
w/ small outside shim, use 0.3 under sun gear
w/o small oustside shim, use 0.5 under sun gear
Is that right?

My thinking is .3 with new gears and .5 with old worn gears. But the trend seems to be .5 either way.
AE was way off when they first put this out if they went from .2 to .5 and nothing in the diff has changed.
My last fluid change I put the .5's in. found out that I just needed new gears. Left the .5 in and I feel that it's too tight. I'm changing back to .3 on the fresh gears to see... I may be back to the .5's, hope not
Yeah, the new kits should come with the .5mm shims. One under each sun gear and remove the small shim on the outdrive on the outside of the diff.

You may want to get two and freshen up the front as well.

Sorry if my questions have been answered already or if they are obvious haha

My bad

The 4wd kit should have the .5 shims.
I hear the pitch is different between the two, but if you are using all 2wd gears it works, I used them in a pinch.
Of course order the correct ones though as I'm sure you will.
Saw this in another thread, made me laugh.
"My durango was awesome last night so planted and carries so much corner speed. Took the TQ and the win in the main at our short course sat. Night club race over local AE driver wild cherry :-)"

Can't be the truck, AE's the best. Wait...
Lhs is 100% correct.

Do you guys have any pointers or things to watch out for when pulling both the diffs? Or is there a good how to/instructional around other than the ae instruction manual?
