Wouldn't that just lower the position that the shims are pressing against, meaning that you are really only raising the actual location of the stud by 7mm?

I think wc means from below, grind 1 mm then insert the metal ball stud tab. Correct me if I'm wrong.

instead of trimming the plastic, why not just run 7mm spacers ?

I did do my homework. I had the +8mm carbon tab and about 4mm of spacers on the stud in November, I know precisely why I did it - I was trying to put more side bite in the truck on power out of slow corners. What I didn't have was the guts to space it out any further because I was afraid to bend the ball studs if I went any higher.

Craig

Question I asked you is a real good one .
I agree.

No one has questioned why Ae raised the stud so high and thought most here would have a interest in the reason ...
Okay..I give up.

Why AE raised the stud so high?
Alternatively, why did they make it so low off out of the box?

Giving Craig more time to find correct answer..

Understood. IMO this is where coupling the slipper is best; it's a trade off, it won't rotate but it makes it easier to air it out. On the 1/8th scale track I tried the pin modification on, it was like almost a second a lap quicker with no other changes because it was so much more comfortable when it was 7' in the air. It was worse if I needed the truck to rotate.

The lady there was telling me it used to be on raod. I forgot to return my badge to get my dollar back.
For a while there, that was close to the center of the RC universe. Technically, the Deja Vu club on Mission was the center, but this is a family friendly forum.

The Ranch was on Mission, about two miles away. They started with a small 1/10 scale track with concrete curbs and a enormous 1/8 scale onroad track in front of that. Later, they converted the 1/8th scale pavement track to a 1/10th scale track to run the 1992 IFMAR worlds, and then about a year later, built a huge 2 foot retaining wall and filled it in to make a giant off road, with a diagonal straight that made it seem even bigger. I remember having seven cells and a 13 wind in and getting yarded on the first day of a two day race and being BQ, the next day I put an 11 wind in for the last round of qualifing and sat on the pole.

Sadly, I can't find any pictures of the big track, but this is what the little one looked like:

Good night, even the little track was a fun place to race.

On my brother in law's truck, one of the belt tensioner bearings gave out. Can anyone tell me if they are 4x8x3mm bearings? For some reason, AE gives different part numbers for the steering bearings and these, and gives the size of the tensioner bearings as only 4x8 mm, without mentioning their height.
Are they interchangable?

Over 12 months now with this truck.

when I look back and sum up all the needed modifications. things that made this truck really work for me are :

chassis brace
tripple slipper ( either mtk or vst )
+8mm rear hubs
swaybars

all other things I have tried, pinning shafts, alu chassis, saddle,FT shocks, etc. etc. also makes the car better, but doesnt have such a huge impact as the mods mentioned above.

12 months and the truck is not nearly like he drove back then. it only kept going better and better.

this thing is like the B4 of the SC4x4 class, still a long way to go.

for the gyus who have run a castle 1410 motor in thier trucks what are you getting for temps ?

i just got one of these motors, ran it outside for a test and max temp in 8 min was 179-189. geared at 14/62. its warm out and i was running the truck in the road with the stock tires.

the esc was warm to the touch. no binding in the drive train.

what is the max temp for these motors ? i could not find out that in the 1/2 hour i did searches.

Same here.

If you are running stock tires on the road, they were probably spinning a lot... temps will go up from that. Castle says to keep below 200 IIRC, but I like to keep below 180.

I've noticed the castle 1410 is happiest pulling taller gearing. I'm at 23/93 and can go to 24/93 with no problem. Like sofa said, if you are spinning tires a lot, it will get hot.

Are you running the stock 2 pad slipper? Lots of slippage will heat up quick. I ran 15-62 at 140f after s full pack.

im running the vts slipper. i wonder if the weight of the stock tires are more then the aka's i run at the track. im guessing yes. even with that i cant see it causing such a huge difference in temps compared to you guys.
