His truck would have been better with the chassis for sure but he is obviously a better driver than most of us. You cannot compare him to the struggles that most of us have with this truck on large jump tracks, there are 1000's of us and only a handful of the factory guys. If YOU had an SCTE do you think you would have been any closer to him? probably not and that goes for most of us on this thread. He is a different driver and there is a reason why he is sponsored by AE!! Simply put , you cannot compare him or any other driver to the "masses", they are elite and we are not.

point well taken. I guess I just look at the pros for some point of reference. However, certainly feedback from more experienced drivers is definitely helpful.

Sc 10 4x4 tire tip

Slicks wear out like a threaded tire ..

They

get thin &

they stretch out ....

Fastest slick is a brand new set of tires grounded down....

Insert wear is not really the problem with slicks as you can replace a slick with a fresh insert and still have a bad set of slicks that do not perform ...

Many use a old set of tires to make a set of slicks , don't do it ...:tire:

Still racing and winning with......

No whine like a girl about not being able to win from me .

Its fast and with I can hand it to most if not all on this thread that says it can't compete....:D

have you ran on the conditions that MantisWorx reported and handed it to the losis? if so, please post your setups.

For the track that is going to be going in place somewhat local here, definitely looking for info on this to get it setup to win as my conditions will be oriented to 1/8 scale racing vehicles.

already posted the set-up many times, posted on www.rc10.com

Kody's Spektrum set-up

I beat Losi's almost every race I run , fast Losi's too .

However, the Durango is faster if you ask me ...

If I understand your post correctly, you are running Jconcepts treaded tires in green compound.

If the track is good enough a lot of guys are running slicks, you're going to be in agony compared to them if you're running treaded tires. But that's the easy part, the compound is going to be ultra critical, as is the condition/selection of the insert. Depending on where you run, the inserts will wear out/break down before the tire gives up. The guys I know who run at WCRC and OCRC tell me that the tires are only good for three race days once they go to slicks because the inserts start to break down and then they are junk.

So, IMO, this isn't necessarily a chassis problem. It might be, but you gotta get the tires right first.

IMO those are the best ones.

Understood. I have been running the JConcepts BarCodes (green) and the supplied inserts mounted on hazards wheels for 3 races. Out of the package, the inserts don't seem to fill the tires out which in my opinion creates a flimsy sidewall. Could this be the issue? I seem to have had better success with the HB beams and stiffer inserts. Most guys run slicks for 2wd and 50/50 slicks/treaded for 4wd. Any thoughts.

How does the rear hub mod work into this setup? Are you using the "C" hub and how many washers on the inner ball stud compared to Kody's 1mm?

I started at his Spektrum setup and changed the rear diff to 5k, front shocks to 35wt and added 1mm to the rear inner ball stud. I'm also overdriving the front.

I added 2mm more front ball stud spacer (4mm total) and found I didn't like the change (wanted to traction roll easier).

I think I'm almost at the point I'm done chasing a setup and will just focus on driving for a while. I would like to know more about the hub towers though.

Hey guys, I was thinking about ordering the optional steering rack but before I do that I was hoping someone could explain the difference between mounting the turnbuckles in he front vs the back mounting holes.

Using a 1m on the ft stud on chassis ..

Suggest to give the hub mod a try , promise you will like as it helps control the roll ....

Advise 10K Ft & 7k rear for diff's & no overdrive ....

also have switched to a 1.8 ft sway bar

I've had mine since June 2011 and it took a little while to get it setup the way I want it. I've had alot of help from users here on RCTECH and with all the mods that others have come up with like Mac the Knife clutch baskets, pinning the top shafts, Exotech alum chassis and creations from MantisWorks and his RCSHOX products. If you just bought the truck then you are lucky that all of those who have had the truck from it's first release have blazed the trail and have thru trial and error come up with mods available piece by piece. These have now led to what AE has taken and calls their FT SC10 4x4. Stick with it as it's a great truck.

+1. Everyone on this thread have been absolutely fantastic and extremely helpful. All of the work on the mods and tips/tricks really have made this truck even more competitive for club racers. Thanks!

I can't wait to start dominating all of the losi's at my track.

One of the those items should really put some power down.

LOL. does the impossible ...

Clutch basket yes, the track is a motocross style 1/8 scale track. I'm running Calibers and it's just hard to get any power down without just spinning tires
