Sincerely....
This thread is about the SC10 4x4. If someone asks a question that has already been addressed, BFD. You guys that cant understand that are just turning people (Newbs) away that are simply asking for help. This hobby is for fun, remember? Big deal, so they want to ask a question and don't feel like reading 19,000 posts to possibly find it. Bottom line, they ARE NOT breaking any forum rules by asking a question. You however are not helping the cause at all with this whining. This needs to be addressed by the Moderators and you guys should just cease fire and either 1) give them your "professional" reply, and then if you want to educate them on the search option, then PM them and tactfully pursue this. OR, just bite your tongue and I know some people are still friendly enough to offer their advice and not make a major production out of it. NOBODY wants trouble. :tire::tire::tire:

If people are getting turned away because they're being annoying, good riddance.

I'm thinkin about making the switch over to ae , I've already bought and built my rc8.2 buggy, and next on the list would be sc 4x4 . I'm reading there are mods that need to be done to this truck , can someone please put together a list( and detail if needed) about these mods , or are these more towards the first models. I would be buying the new FT model . Thanks
And yea Coyote does give out some good info, but he's also the biggest search function nazi. I got called out for it on the RCshox thread and it was unwarranted as I had a valid question that seemed to have been overlooked. Just have to overlook him when he does that as others will usually eventually chime in and help. This is a good group of people and dedicated to the car. But as I said reading much into the thread history you'll see who's full of hot air, the AE Team brown noser, expert drivers and innovators. Now as to what you were actually asking for: The FT hasn't been out long so not sure how much good info is out on it on the smaller fixes. The Exotech chassis seems to be a good upgrade but with the chassis brace/saddle packs of the FT kind of addresses it, but I think you still get a little bit of a lower CG with the tub. There is a bearing in a bearing fix for a wobbly outdrives that has been talked about, CoyoteSlash was actually selling some a few pages ago I believe. Mactheknife makes a slipper basket (MTK Basket) that AE kind of copied, but his is all metal. Some drill and pin the slipper. And the latest is RCshox (Mantisworx) center diff, of which he just released a version #2 of. He also makes a two stage shock piston for several models that alot of people are fans of. And his slipper pads are really nice, just put a couple on my 2wd and are so much nicer than the crap the white waxy crap pads AE had on there. Some people are starting to use front springs on the rear shocks. And most will try to add weight if possible so they don't get "Losi'd" and knocked out of the way. One issue I had putting my regular 4x4 together was the shock travel on the rear was causing the CVD's to rub on the diff outdrives which I'm sure helps attribute to some of the wobbliness of the diff. Some have trouble with the diff's clicking and put an extra shim under the sun gear. I had this on my 2wd RS and fixed it, and went ahead and did it to my 4x4 before it was an issue. |

So what you are is the provider of annoyance and you feel good when people are turned away? Incredible.
ADDED ON: I think your hearts are in the right place seeing people get slapped down but you have to realize what some of these guys have put into this thread and aren't making money off of this. It's actually pretty tame compared to other technical forums and I am sure IRL none of these guys ignore any new guy's questions. Most of the answers are out there and I've taken the time to read it and know it and I don't even own one, but I will. :) |
Hey losi driver sorry for the crummy welcome you got here. Believe or not there are a few good guys on here that are willing to help and then, as you have already discovered, there are a few who don't appear to have a life beyond their keyboard. I've read probably 90% of this thread over that last 6 moths and every couple of pages the same few have to flame a guy for asking a simple question. You must understand that those guys were born rc gods full of knowledge and understanding and can't understand the minds of us mere mortals. If the guys at my local track acted like this I would have sold my truck within a couple of Weeks and spent more time fishing. Having said all that I must say that I have received some good advice on here and thanks to the ones who took the time to help me. I don't like to get involved in the drama but there are a few that would serve much better to just keep their mouth shut sometimes. But I guess then they would miss an opportunity to increase their post count and achieve the coveted title of veteran,or maybe it is just that their fragile ego needs a boost. Sorry for the rant but enough is enough. If you don't like a question then by all means just don't respond!

No, when someone is being annoying and not using the tools in front of them and calling them out on it hurts their feelings then they are doing everyone a favor by leaving.

Most of the answers are out there and I've taken the time to read it and know it and I don't even own one, but I will. :) And for the record: You're right Noum. A guy walking into the shop can't find the answer to his question iv'e answered verbally twenty times a week. But every one who reads this post can. The Search Function is...BLACK MAGIC. It comes down to (in Coyote's book) My respect for you is instantly at 100/100 (and anyone who knows me will defend this) when you show some brains and use the function to try a bit. As soon as you walk into this thread with hours upon hours of work on Mantis, Craig, Dan, and more's effort...(no offense to you others, I'm on a roll) Giving no effort of your own, and want a personalized page made out taking at least 20 minutes additional of our time... You lose all that respect. That's how the internet rolls. If you want to try and white knight that reality, be my guest. The bank makes a deposit slip so you can put the information on the sheet to make things faster. You contradict the effort put forward to streamline a business and your fellow customers when you decide you're too good for a deposit slip and the teller will do all of it for you. /backalley yet perfect example. FYI: - We post funny pictures and make tard-speak... We're told this is a tech forum and to grow up. - We 'try' to keep the thread rolling with NEW information by having newcomers use the search function politely or impolitely and we're told it's a hobby and we're supposed to have fun. This thread is dying. There is maybe 1 new piece of information given a day, and that's a stretch. It is rehashing junk for people over, and over, and over again. I haven't posted nearly as much lately not only cause most of you don't give a shit, but because I don't have anything new to say, and I do hold my tongue quite a bit. As ultimately, I should. Maybe there's nothing left to say? Maybe if we had the new blood who put forward the effort of their own, we would have fresh blood and new perspective? Oh, and cheese. |

Center Stick Pack ready to go!
Tomorrow will reveal if I made my truck better or worse.... Lol. Also going to try yellow fronts in the rear instead of blue. Should be an interesting day at the track. Next week I should be able to try my Coyote Diffs.... I love R&D! I'm still stoked about this platform..... I have been beating the hell out of it and it just keeps going.

clicking noise
Some have trouble with the diff's clicking and put an extra shim under the sun gear. I had this on my 2wd RS and fixed it, and went ahead and did it to my 4x4 before it was an issue.
Kiyot, I have the same clicking noise but the tech working on my diff says there isn't room to put another shim in either side. Could he be missing something, or is there a pic of where exactly the shim should go? He may be looking at the wrong gear. Thanks Jody |

What springs are you going to have in the front with the RF yellows?

I've been on this forum for years , but since day one I've been with losi. I know those cars inside and out I do everything possible to help anyone out with anything when they ask for it . It doesn't matter if they ask a new questions or something that was just answered 5 min ago . If you would rather just say use the search button then help someone then why are you on here ? All this forum is for is to get information or give information . Plain and simple if you can't do either you should keep your mouth shut or get off the forum as your doing no good here .
The search is a good tool and I use it all the time but when you ask something as large as i did like many new people do you don't know if certain things still apply or if you get all the info do the search does no good . If your looking for one thing in particular such as modding the chassis to fit longer 550 motors then yes the search button is perfect, which I could of used but some members were actually being helpful and decided just to ask them. To the guys actually being helpful I appreciate it. I've learned a lot reading your posts and the few pms I received last night . I believe I'm going to end up gettin this truck And when I do I will help this thread and contribute instead of acting like a jerk like some like to do . Ive said my .02 and I'm done ! |
