I need to settle on a esc and battery, I have a few choices of ESC already RX8, Brushless Hobbies 120amp, Kinetic 2s ....as for battery I am hoping to get some GENS 5200 or 6000

Any input on things I may missed , which ESC to use, other battery choices. I want a have a well built race rig on a regular budget.:D

Gens Ace does not make a 5200 saddle pack, only a 4800 or 6000........ If you go with the 6000 you will need longer screws to fit them.......

ESC I'd def. go with the RX8...........

And def. look into rcshox center diff mod, ackbar mod, and stage 2 pistons mod.......... All of those mods make the sc10 better IMO

So I finally got on the bandwagon and put the Front Blue springs on the rear shocks. While it flew much better for me, I found the back end kicked out a lot with my driving style. I know everyones styles are different and I did get better with how the truck handled as the day went on, I can't help but feel switching the springs caused it to kick out. It's the only thing I changed. I'm running a RX8/Novak Ballistic 4.5T combo with the V1 center ball diff. I have 7k in the front diff, 5k in the rear. Front shocks have 30, rear shocks have 25. Running Suburbs MC tires and Hazard rims.

Any ideas how I can prevent the back end from kicking out on me? It'd kick out as I slowed down coming into corners. I generally coast into a corner and turn without using brakes at all. Where I really had an issue was coming into a sweeper after a long straightaway.

I also had what I believe is some traction roll going on. There's one corner where you make a 90 degree right hand turn, then another right hander down a hill right after. I found myself rolling over a lot as I can down that hill. Then you make a 180 turn to the left with some bumps in it. I found myself rolling a lot there too. I don't have any spacers under the ball studs. Would it help me to add that?

I really like the Blue Fronts in the back for better jumping, but not sure if I can handle the back end kicking out all the time. At least for my driving style.

try the greens or the whites, the blues are the stiffest one and if your truck isnt heavy than they are probably too stiff.

I don't run the exotek chassis so my truck is only 96 oz ready to run. I use the white or green fronts with my set up. currently (blue on the front and shorty whites on the rear) Blue fronts on the rear of my truck I found to be too stiff. Try the white fronts.

Traction rolling you might try a bigger sway bar on the front and add 2mm of ball stud spacers under the inner ball stud.

shims

What shims are you guys using to shim the differentials? I searched through some prior posts and it sounds like some were using shims (from the differential rebuild kit) and doubling them up on at least one side. Is there a part number to just order the shim without ordering an entire differential rebuild kit? Or, some other washer that people have found works well?

I tried these.

They are holding up well so far.

I have a question about the ball diff. I will be running on a very wide open track, pretty much a 1/8 track. would the ball diff benefit me more or would the clutch basket with more discs in it be better? im still trying to understand what it is the ball diff does and if it would help me or not

Marcus can give a better explanation than I can... but I want him working on the C-Diffs that I am waiting on instead of replying to forums. I'm selfish

I have not run it yet, so I can't say from experience but everything I have read would indicate that its better on high bite indoor tracks and way better on a loose outdoor track like you are describing.

JEFFs SC10 04-02-2012 04:22 PM

The Center diff would be a great mod for outdoor tracks, especially if you are running a big motor.

I run the Center Diff and its great. You don't realize how much power you are losing until you run one.

Everything identical except pistons and oil and the stage 2 pistons I turned several laps (in a row) .2 seconds faster than my best time with the stand 1.2 set up. On a rough track I assume I would be even faster.

The steering rack other than price is not as nice as RCShox. I am all about tuning options and 2 extra holes has me covered at any track I will run at over the FT bar. Bearing pivots and flex free material are a bonus too.

I can't say much about how they work in an SC10..But I can say how they worked in an SCTE..funny Cameron..I picked up 3 seconds a lap by going back to the stock pistons on my Losi..personally I think that they gave me the wrong pistons (to small of a diameter)..but Marcus insists he sent the correct
ones..so to me this means they don't work..plus I've talked to others that have Losi SCTE's and their shock pistons are larger than the ones that were sent to me..so to me Marcus doesn't stand behind his product..

Thanks Cameron and Mantis. I should have mentioned that I'm running the Blue sway bar in the front and rear. I will try a bigger one up front and add the spacers. I'm not running an exotech chassis either. Stocker for me. So I'll pick up a set of Green and White ones.

If they were too small of a diameter they obviously were the wrong ones.

Mine work great, the rebound on these is awesome, I run mainly on outdoor bumpy tracks and I can go full throttle thru sections where other guys can't.

Sorry you got the wrong ones bud, maybe you could try another set out. It helps put the edge on the competition for sure.

Dont really remember the situation but my pistons are all smaller than factory pistons and they are also slightly oval all for a specific reason. At any rate V2's are out now, if you want to send yours back i will replace them with a new set for free.
