Try installing a Leopard Hobby 3674 3270kv motor with a 17t or 18t pinion and all those weight issues will be irrelevant. That motor can push the kit with instant torque you wouldn't get from a 540 or a 550 sized motor. The temp on mine doesn't even go higher that 130F...and we race in very hot weather conditions.

looking into carbon fiber next. which is better in everyones opinion SNR or losi shock towers?

"stand offs" is that the chassis brace?
I have the Losi C/F towers and they look really nice , mine have been rock solid so far .

that dosn't really help the drive train tho there homie. matter of fact that would be a little worse IMO

There will be other options in carbon fiber in the coming couple of weeks. So I wouldn't jump the gun on towers.

What do you mean that doesn't help the drive train? If your kit was to perform according to the designer's specs then it should be just fine. How different is this motor from Castle's 2650 which some are installing on their kits? Do you even have the slightest idea of the motor I was suggesting?

The SCTE's drive train is the same as the 810 which is considered a 1/8 buggy. It is also the same with the Ten-T nitro truggy. How worse will it get?

I noticed the Team Driver setups have been posted on the Losi Website. I'm curious, I saw one of the team drivers list his gearing at 14/42 with the SC4x 4.5T RX8. Is there a 42T spur out there to put on this beast?? Any thoughts???

I'm still holding my breath. Luckily, "Chrispins" came to the rescue.

Default Gearing

FangCPO, I have been running 12/43 gearing with a Tekin 4.5, RX8 and TP5300. My temps after 15 minutes are 120 ESC, 140 motor and 105 battery.
I am using the 8 2.0 spur. You have to dremel the opening slightly and shim the center diff standoff to about 2mm total. It's very easy.
I'm not sure what the 42 tooth spur is from but I would guess it is for the 8 also.

What KV are you running? The 4600 has mass (more than the 1410) amounts of "juice". But that power and torque came at a very high price in terms of heat.

You got it, just wait for the 4000. The 4600 will fry in the summer weather in short order. I don't even want to get into the 5200. That thing will hit near 250 in about 6 minutes.

You can't get just the motors yet, actually let me rephrase that...You can but you will PAY for it. Just the motor is 95.00. The motor and ESC combo is 89.00 shipped.

Im running the 4600kv with a 14t pinion, and after 5 min hard run in +20 weather it came off at 120. I want to gear down still as I think its overgeared still. This is on a med bite med size offroad track. But as i said before I run a big heatsink and good highspeed fan
