Losi 1/10 TEN-SCTE ARR 4x4 Short Course Truck Thread
My experiences with two issues being discussed.
As far as clicking diffs under braking, I used to have this. I had my brakes programmed to 100%. Loved being able to do front wheelies under hard braking if I needed it but it wasn't helping my lap times.Turned out the ring and pinion gears were skipping when braking hard. The gears had rounded off the edges pretty bad. Replaced the gears, turned down the brake percentage and haven't had any clicking since.
Another factor I found regarding binding diffs after rebuilds, is that you have to make sure the O-rings are seating properly. If you have tightened down the diff screws and it binds carefully check your O-rings for damage, they might have been squashed. When you seat the O-rings they can pop out as you are pushing the shim or sun gear on the shaft causing the gears to bind. When you put on the shim and sun gear, make sure they seat up against the diff case and there is no gap to the case. If there is, turn the shim and sun gear while gently push them down and you can feel the O-ring re-seat when it pops back in.

Does anyone know the answer to this question? I bought a used SCTE and tore apart all 3 diffs and noticed I had rings instead of blocks in all 3 difs and all of them had the washers/shims. Does this mean I have the ape kits?

I dont understand your guys logic. you spend around 2 too 3 hundred on hop ups.. (or more) 300 for a truck a few hundred for a radio. a couple of hundred for a speed control and motor, and your buying batteries from over seas.. I know of three listed right here in these posts that have better and you get them faster and for the same money. TRY returning one of there batteries.. Just saying.. I purchased 1 to test and it lasted 4 laps.. stick with local. keep the money in the usa.. Thanks
have you had them? i did, and i had ZERO issues with them. only reason why i removed them was due to the weight added for the 1410 thats all. now my friend has it in his almost 8lbs 4s scte bashing it, stumbling, crashing and all and they look just as new and straight when i bought them. if i was to do it again and didnt care for weight i would buy them and recommend them too
Yo Mr. J I forgot to post this last weekend.

Does anyone have any feedback on the OFNA diff gears that has been running them for a while now. My original losi gears are toast and I have a set of OFNA gears gears here waiting to go in. Wondering if I should swap to the OFNA's or wait on getting a set of the new Losi replacements. I want the best setup that will last without rebuilding for a while.
Thanks!
Thanks!
so im sure this is a bad place to ask this but take the scte 4x4 vs the ofna scrt 4x4. what do you guys prefer? what are pros and cons of both? weak parts?

a good driver can drive the wheels off anything. But losi is best.
I was wondering if the Losi diff shims are equivalent to the kyosho shims here?

And I believe the gears are skipping, so can I used those kyosho shim to bring the main (large gear) closer to the spider gears?

Also is there a part# for the tiny washers in the diff?

Jared,
Yes, you should use the small shims with the APE bushings. The bushings are exactly the same thickness as the stock aluminum blocks.

I have an ofna Jammin scrt 4X4 and a Losi SCTE. I JUST GOT THE Jammin put together last night with all of the electronics and my first impression is the Jammin turns better than my Losi but is not as stable on a rough track as the Losi. I actually wanted to find out on here how I can make the Losi turn sharper as in what can I do set up wise? As far as week points the Losi doesn't have any in my opinion its as tough as a brick.

Their is not a better truck. If you're a good driver then you can drive the wheels off anything and make everyone say "man that truck is fast" when it is actually pure driver.
