So I bought a B44.1 about 6 months ago or so after spending about 13 years away from the hobby. I always liked 4x4 buggies, but as a kid they were always a bit pricey. My plan too was to bash mostly, race maybe.

Here are my thoughts, then I'll answer your questions.

It isn't the toughest vehicle at all. I have broke 1 front a arm only though. My shock towers are a little scratched at the top, however that is mostly from a clay racetrack. Just be careful I guess =] There are aluminum parts I haven't used yet, but would explore for bashing. I use Proline Dirthawgs for road driving. You can easily traction roll on concrete, especially at brushless speeds.

I would highly recommend the Tekin RS Pro. The small footprint is great for a cramped chassis and no motor limit is a plus.

I would go for a 10.5 motor. I have an 8.5 currently. On the racetrack, my skills have me nowhere able to top it out at all. When bashing, power is addicting and you always want more. A 13.5 may leave you a bit unsatisfied. The good news is there are many ways to dial speed out, although learning throttle control is a big part of racing. The Tekin hotwire will also give you current limit settings to dial some speed out. A lot of fast racers will likely use 6.5 - 8.5 turn motors, so 13.5 is definitely a little slow in that sense, although your car will only go as fast as you can drive it. I again, have not personally been able to fully use the 8.5 turn power on my local track.

As far as batteries are concerned, are these any good?

And will they fit?

The price is right but I wonder if the C rating is. I have heard good things about these.

Yea all the hobby king packs work great, those are a high c which may be punchy, Im guessing that your running around an 8.5. I you wanna save some cash and get the lower c packs(zippy) or support your lhs!

I would support my LHS if they didn't charge $200 for a 2 cell 45C stick pack....

do the diff hear and drive gear from the TC3/4 work with the B44.1? My hobby shop was out, so they sold me the one way kit from the touring car at a discount because it had the gear. But when I built the diff it felt tight in the drivetrain.

I got this car used (with a burnt out rear gear), so I am not sure free its supposed to feel. Thanks for any help.

My local track is going to start running these as a class. Are there any mods that need to get done right away??

No Savox fitment issues in mine (1258) or a buddy's (1257), but 2 other buddies do (1257s), it's really strange. Just have to dremel a touch off the servo case or bellcrank, or both.

I just ordered my b44.1, I'll be running a savox servo and I've got an extra Sv2 esc and 5700kv 4 pole castle combo laying around, how would that do in my b44.1 as a starter? Or should I just go for a sonic with tekin esc? Thanks

Sonic 8.5 here. I have had great luck with them, very smooth motors.

Wondering if RM or Cav's crcrc setup is on the Internet yet? Also, Anyone know the "closest to kit" spring conversion for losi big bore springs?
Placing an order for the 2wd so I thought I'd throw my 44.1 some love too.
Thanks

Anyone have a nice high res pic of the FT motor (cammed) mount setup? The pics I have found thus far have been of the regular two bolt setup.

I like the idea of a captured system to really dial in the mesh as I am kinda ham-fisted. Is the cammed system worth the price? I have to order a few bit and bobbles for the buggy and combining things keeps shipping costs down.

*edit*

Finally tracked one down. I though the clamp and eccentric mount used the original B44 mount plate-it does not.
