Thanks for the reply , I have no drag brake set, and the faster I took the jump the more the back end went up, I just read I could be the wing, any thorts

Great advice! Also check the drive train to make sure nothing is binding, or gear mesh is too tight.

Generally you give the car full stick as its at the crest of the jump so it brings the nose up, not flat out all the way up the jump.

Cheers

Its possible that it could be the wing but that seems less likely than some of the other things that typically stick your rear end over the front end. Usually its deceleration of the drive train. I suppose it could be light oil and too strong of a spring in the rear. What is your setup? Also, what does the jump look like?

I go faster with BB springs, make fewer mistakes with um too ....

Can tell you all why .....

better control with roll in the turns ( less hook , less square)

more traction & a plush ride or smoother ride

I still dont understand one thing. If the springs rates are the same(or slightly different/if any) then how is this?

For guys running 17.5,

how much weight spread around are you using. The guy at my lhs told me I had too much weight in mine. I just want mine to be planted and have lots of steering.

I have 5 g in each triangle and 20 g in front of servo and 14 g below rear shock tower.
I bought the ballast weight and may replace 14g on shock tower.

It works in the same manner as a washer under a screw spreads the same load across a larger area.

The way the spring compresses is the key ..

A Ae spring is very linear, as the spring is compressed the rate stays the same ....

The other BB springs we have been using are more progressive and their rate goes up as the spring is compressed .

Other than the tips already mentioned, drag break setting and blipping the throttle, double check your pinion to spur free play. If you get hit hard in the back of a 2wd buggy it might push the motor up causing it to bind up, especially off power. Also might want to make sure with the pinion off or away from the spur that the tranny spins freely. If not make sure the screws holding the transmission together are just snug. They cause binding if over tightened.

Ok, so I get that. I understand the difference in progressive and linear. I saw that spring rate chart posted a few pages back and it didnt state what springs where progressive or linear...just the rates. I assumed the BB listed on it where Linear. So your saying the BB springs are a progressive spring rate. IE Losi 22 BB springs everyone is using for instance?

For 8m chassis

1/2oz in ft of servo
1/4oz in the ft triangles by servo
1/4oz in rear triangles

Ae ballast weight on rear arm mount by transmission, can go more , as much as 21 g for max steering.

too add

Just from what I have experience

BB springs are actually softer at first , explaining that extra grip & plush ride they bring...

A few have said the improved performance is due to the fact they do not rub the shock body less .

Not so...

and

now you now know why ...
