Going from a softer spring rate to there higher rate of compression as its compressed? For me I nvr bothered to try them because I always was under the assumption that they where both linear spring rates and that there shouldnt be any difference between the two.
Actually, that's not true. The fact the spring is hitting the side of the shock is precisely the problem, not because it was hitting, but because it is deflecting off to one side.
Given all the above though. I am going to go ahead and try them myself.
George is going to say something personal and inflamitory in response to what I posted. He won't have any data to back up what he says, but that's standard. His response is always:

Well, four of them hail from TRCR...
Anyways, the kyosho springs are feeling excellent. I defiantly noticed that they where initially softer and then sort of simulate "pack". Losi springs work great too, either way cant go wrong...

The guy who works at AE and is developing the big bore stuff posts here on RCTech. I can't remember his username, and I need to go to bed. Anyone know what it is? He posted on what the advantages of the big bore springs are, the problems with the smaller springs, and why the small shocks may have an advantage over the big shocks (both using the big springs).
He didn't say any of the things George did. And he works there and has his mess together.
If somebody would please get me his username, I'll do the search and repost what he wrote on the topic a couple of months ago.

Yep, thanks. Here it is:
None of that garbage Wild Cherry was spewing, but there you go. Facts have a liberal bias.
Aside from the springs rubbing there are other benefits to the BB springs. Since they are a larger diameter, for a similar spring rate the willingness for the spring to buckle reduces substantially, and therefor decreases any side loading that would be imparted onto the shock (also causes the rubbing). This side loading increases shock shaft drag and reduces the amount of force being transferred to the tire. A lower force (downward), especially when cornering decreases tire grip. Both of the Ryans feel that our standard shock creates more side-bite than a BB, at the expense of the car not landing big jumps as well. I personally don't really think BB's are better, and we have been able to prove that they are magical (significantly faster) in any sense but there are some small advantages. I think people in general just think they need them....but we are working on our BB shocks and they will definitely be THE BEST!
Heading to the lhs shortly and want to try the Losi BB spring what collars and cups do i need to buy? Also which colors are used most. On My 22 I go between Wht and yellow rears and red and orange fronts. Is it the same with the B4.1 +8?

And my response is either you were lied to or he is wrong, because your answer is lacking in depth and truth. But we've been here before...
someone else who knows why we use the BB springs....

Guys , I could respond to the the one guy who only wish's to bash someone for trying to help you out with understanding why the BB springs perform as they do ...
please note
No name calling or negative remarks from me...
I won't even try as it just ruins our thread , hope you all can appreciate...
Someone also asked which Team member told me this info &
because Racer , a RcTech mod said I never say where I got the info ....
We were doing as I said testing at the time , so one of us text Cody , or I believe it was Coach himself .
This is where we got the Info about the progressive nature of BB springs ...This happen months ago ...
