Yuppers ,even have one driver who switched back to 1.6 for the KO ?

Going back to 1.7 ...

Wildcat1971 01-10-2013 10:25 AM

I might try the 1.7's. But I am not trying to make the BB's handle like the v2's. I need that pack. it was the main reason for getting them.

less pack with 1.7 compared to 1.6...

more traction with the 1.7 is what you will experience...

like I said, I plan to play with tires first. I like the way it feels in the corners. I just have issue getting on the power exiting. I have a few other issues to work out also since getting the BB shocks. Jumping is inconsistent for one. My list of likes and dislikes is about even right now, just trying to get more like in the like column.

I got in my big bore pistons. excited to see how they work in comparison to the kyosho's already in the shocks.

Anyone have any tips I should keep in mind when putting in the pistons? figured I ask now and get the info right away.

Wild , making the jumps is more a skill or driving issue then set-up .
One thing I advise to anyone ...

Do not try tune your ride just for the jump.....

Tip
The slipper has a bigger effect on jumps them most anything else .

In Stock ?
Some may not clear the jump and wish to blame many things .
Like , motor , gearing , set-up...
I usually love those ..
Because all I have to do is set the slipper correct and all the sudden they clear jumps that they were having difficulties with...

Most I find have the slipper way to tight or needs cleaning ...

So when I rebuilt the gear box yesterday ?

I got to inspect the slipper pads on my AVID Traid.
After all that wear & tear ?
The pads still look almost new , no glaze ...
Also never had to adjust the slipper unless traction also changed .
The Triad stayed consistent and reliable the whole time ...

Very impressed ...

Nice cant wait tell this week end going to be fun. Just got the mail with 2 lrp sxx

lol, I am not "tuning" it for jump, I am trouble shooting the issue. Same jump, same track and new shocks = sometimes a barrel roll coming of the jump. If i had to guess, some of my shocks have air in them. I will rebleed and keep an eye on that this weekend. Also, it jumps nose down naturally now. I have to stay on the gas to correct. I added 1/2 oz in front of the servo when I had the v2's. With the heavier shocks up front now, I might remove that weight. The front just feels heavy with the BB shocks. I can clear all the jumps at 1/2 throttle with a 17.5. So I am not trying to fix that. I dont like hitting an jump and wondering if I will fly flat, nose down or barrel roll.

your setup sheet says low traction. If you indeed have low traction, did you try the A Hubs? Not sure i would go with heavier oil. I would try the green rears first. A few people have posted that the whites in the rear were a bit twitchy. I gained a bunch of steering with my BB shocks also. But, I am dealing with fish tailing on power. If my new rear tires dont help, then I might need to play with my camber links.

In the general scheme of things, it's considered low traction (med bite for the area though). Last night it was cold, and wet, so low it was. The fast guy is running JC's in Gold, but he's the only one that can drive on them. His car/setup feels terrible to me, but he's fast as hell (out qualified Hartson and Evans recently). I guess I need to hang out with him.

If your car feels good in the corners, but you're fishtailing on power, you want more weight transfer to the rear. Softer spring in the rear, remove weight up front, move the battery back, decrease camber, and increasing droop up front will give you more rear traction. I've gone back and forth between the A and C hub, and I still continue to do so. The A hubs will hang on longer in a turn, but are harder to correct if I come in too hot. I'll spend some time getting it dialed in today.

edit: As WC said, don't add/shift weight to help with flight. If the car is doing squirrely things in the air, check droop, check for binding, and learn how to adjust your car in air (using throttle/brake/steering). Letting off on the face of the jump will make the car nose down as well.

Two ?

Lucky dog ....

Wildcat1971 01-10-2013 10:49 AM

@top yeah, I was thinking about getting rid of the 1/2 oz up front. I am also running 3 limiters up front and not 2 like you and raz. So that might be part of it also.

respectfully ?

Even if the car is correct & perfect...

If a driver hits a jump to fast , has power on before the square up facing the jump ?

Back end will slap , car noses up , barrel rolls, ect ...

dominick i. 01-10-2013 10:59 AM

i got my 2 lrp's back this week as well.

boy, i wish i could have spent 3 months in southern california!

great commentary on the slipper, dont forget when your car lands and is squirrely that usually is a sign of a slipper that is too tight

Wildcat1971 01-10-2013 11:01 AM

@wc that could be true. Like i said, I am driving the same, just changed the shocks. I would think that the additional pack of the 1.6's, I would have less slap on the jumps than my v2's.

Razathorn 01-10-2013 11:20 AM

I still prefer the 1.6 over the 1.7. I think it really depends on your track. Did a lot of testing and honestly the difference once you get them close comes down to track and driving style.
