Heat oven to 325-350 degrees. Place aluminum foil on cookie sheet. Set wheels down on foil, insert cookie sheet into oven. Leave them in the oven for 10-12 minutes. When removing the wheels/tires from the oven, take them outside. They will be "smoking hot" and it will smell like a drag strip in the kitchen. Let the tires cool down and the will come off the wheel with almost no effort at all.

Heat will release the glue allowing the tires to peel off the rim.

just to let you guys know, i started a thread about 2 months ago about removing the original vorza tires and i tried every method including heating, heat gun, acetone, paint thinner etc. every other tire will come off with the directions that portx gave you, except the stock vorza tires. i never got them off. you may be able to, but HPI uses some unknown space polymer adhesive to stick their tires on. i could not get those F-ers off to save my life! im just warning you ahead of time.

watch, now youll get them off no problem. it was probably just me

Yes but For racing on an off road track you wouldnt use that gearing. And if you do it's prob. Not the wisest choice. Onroad is what that gearing is good for. My friend vision who used to be on the vorZa threads allot used like a 26 or 28t pinion on his vorZa onroad. That car screamed it was so fast , he had the elite mount.

It had to be something because when I baked my Vorza tires off, there was nothing to it. Tires came out of of the oven and they were seriously smoking hot. Several areas on the bead had already come loose from the wheel. By the time they were cool enough to touch with a bare hand, the tires almost fell off the rim. The old tires were easier coming off the rim than the new ones that went back on the rim. The heat releases the glue and makes the tire expand.

Don't worry, it seems the only thing that I can cook, is tires. Reminds me of Ron White....."the smoke alarm is NOT a timer!" .

Ok thanks!! Now since I'll be baking them, will any buggy tire fit on the stock vorza rim?

most any 1/8 buggy tire will, yes. There are some tires out there that are made for "wider" rims though.

What Kv motor are you gearing it for 21T.

The mount will be for off-road purposes. If you use it for on road and expect to use a 28T, it may not go that big.

Are people going to use our mount for off-road or on-road?

If you can go 28T on-road, then why the need for GRID? Stock mount should work since it is not subjected to jumps and rough conditions.

i use the 2200kv cc motor for offroad use. the stock motor mount can only accept an 18t pinion at the largest due to the short range of adjustability. unless you change the 48t spur and HPI does not offer them

Got it today and installed just now, and it's seriously another step toward easier gear meshing. The only thing i'm trying to sell is the rcm mount so if anyone want, let me know, the ad is in the FS section.

Also, Jeff told me to go to Mr.Mya's for his home-made spacers to raise up the differential mounts and of course diff itself, but he did not seem to come here often anymore , so if anyone has a spare one, i'll buy it from you, too.

Mr.Mya, hello?!!!! Some business here for you

p.s., a bit mad that i already cut the stock receiver box which turned into a total :ugly:, elite mount does not require box mod ;(
