Nowhere in the manual does it say anything about "Boost" or "Non-Boost" for gear ratio suggestion, in any of the manuals. If that were the case, you'd think that they would suggest a range. And with a "Race Spec" version, probablly NOT marketed to bashers in general, you'd think they would include the more conservative "Boost" as you claim in that truck's manual.....but guess what? It's got the hotter gear ratios suggested in it.

I was of the general impression that 17.5 was a sorta universal class, STOCK, if you will for these trucks, and oddly enough, the gear ratio suggested is the same in each manual!

I can see your point, but to me it still doesn't account for it, as the FT are very conservative and the others are all generally much higher. I'm thinking that "wow factor" and "burning up a $90 motor" don't work well together for customer satisfaction.

That being said, you should be gearing based on your track size, motor type and motor temp and ignoring their generic recommendations anyway.

....uh, yeah, I get that, but I'd rather not burn up a motor trying to figure out what AEs thinking on my own. Most normal people use the manual because of reasons just like this:

with a tekin rs/icon 17.5 i run 84/22 right now, some guys run 23,i would start at 20 and go up to a 24,dont add alot of timming to the motor,it will take away your bottom end,i have mine on the first mark and thats it,after 7 mins its 135 degrees.

mxracer458 08-16-2011 04:25 PM

does the ft kit come with the 30 degree caster blocks or the 25?

20 SMOKE 08-16-2011 05:01 PM

instructions say 30*

Lojik 08-16-2011 06:36 PM

they come with 30, no spares.

My proline set (purchased last week) is perfect. Just like the comments about the Jconcepts hex adaptors or all that junk Novak product, I have no idea what the french toast these people are talking about. All my gear works for some reason.

And I'm kind of picky.

I believe proline may have "fixed" the issue. My Novak stuff works too, but I'm weary. If they ever need replacement, I'm going Tekin. And I love my rear Jconcept hex adapters (on 2 SC10s)

And I'm very picky.

proline & jconcepts

I use the proline set with great success, but I did get the JConcepts clamping hexs for the front and back. There was a wobble problem until I shimmed the hexs properly. The wheel nut was bottoming out on the axel before it tighten down the wheel. Three little wheel shims solved that on all four axels.
God Bless

My SC doesn't get the love my other stuff does:o, after all this time and not a single broken part it might just be time to send the sloppy old girl down the road and get a fresh kit..:D and yes I mean another FT AE kit....AE for life..

If you've converted to the new AE hardware, don't worry, you're probably in a better position than those of us who chose an aftermarket part. If you ever break anything your LHS should be able to/probably will stock the parts you're going to need as part of their normal load out of parts on the shelf.

Me, I just installed a ProLine kit, front and rear, that I had sitting around since before I got a SCT! Fits perfectly, but I bought another set of steering knuckles to have my own spares when away from my LHS.

I have one and I use it a lot. I love it too. Fits great and serves its purpose very well.

I run the Tekin RS Pro/ 17.5 combo on my truck. I run 75/28 on larger tracks. I run 75/25-26 on medium sized tracks.

LOL, thanks! I got one, more interested in keeping the dirt/dust out of the electronics, and this looked like the ticket. Might try to adapt it to my T4, too. B4 bodies fit tight enough it's not an issue.

When used, did you all note any higher ESC temps or anything else negative?
