so the setup i am using is 22/78 with the ballistic 17.5 and kenetic speedo. temps are 150 ish. last week the speedo shut off with the high rev lights blinkin? and now it wont work at all. brand new set up too. the timing profile was 6. i picked a new one up, and suggestions on how to make sure it dont happen again?

I ran 24/75 gearing and was at the same temps with more timing. |
its a indoor clay.

I would recommend that you change gearing. What kind of track are you running? I would bet your temps will go down. Sometimes high revs can cause heat.

Seen it done before ..:) Not trying to tell yeah though your wrong & junk:) I have learned run as small of gear as possible with out loosing top end ... This way the car performs best on both the straights & infield sections of the layout... |
hey whats the major difference going to a 75 spur, i know people say its all about ratios but i run 23/87 with the mmp/2400kv setup and it seems to be faster than most out there with plenty of torque and never gets hot.. What would the advantage of regearing with a 75 spur?

SC10 Gearing - 17.5T Brushless
Hey guys,
I am all turned around regarding chosing gear ratios and need a sanity check. I am currently running the SC10 RTR brushed motor and speed control with the stock gearing (87 tooth spur). I bash a little and have run on some local tracks (most are clay and one is a pretty loose when it gets dry). I just picked up a Novak Havoc 2S Club Brushless Combo - 17.5T (Part #: S3035) and want to make sure I get the gear ratio right for this brushless system so I don't overheat the motor. I started at this website: http://www.comeseethis.com/gearing I filled in the blanks (SC10, Novak, 17.5T) and a 75T spur gear and the suggested pinion ws 26T to get a final drive ratio of 7.5:1. I want to pick up a couple of extra pinions to help tune the truck for different conditions (especially if the motor is running hot) and figure going +/- 1 tooth is the way to go (25,26,27). A few questions: 1. Any reason not go with the 75T spur? 2. Does any one have any experience with the 75/26 combination and the Novak BL system? 3. Should I go down teeth from 26T (24,25,26) instead? Im a stock SC master. :D I use Murfdogg motors so they are faster to start with. ;) Normally on a small to medium indoor track using zero timing. I run 26/75. Seems the sweet spot is 7.8 to 7.5 FDR on a small track I change to a 78 spur and run around 8.1 FDR. You can still play with your motor timing and everyone that makes a motor claims zero as something different. Too hot try less timing on the motor. DON'T forget batteries... 60c or better will make the difference on speed over a 30c china pack.

To help keep the motor shifted forward and still get the FDR you need. The more forward you can keep the motor on mid to high bite tracks the better the truck will corner and jump.
