Actually I'm running timing profile 3 (forgot if that's 30 or 45) on my SCTE and I temp at 150-160 after 8 mins. Running a 5.5T novak 550 and a 15T pinion. I'm at 90% current limiter though.
I used to run 0 timing (custom profile) to start with but I was temping low at around 140ish. Now this got me thinking... I should've probably just went to a 16T and kept it at 0...

Timing Profile: This slider contains 5 preset Timing Profiles for your ESC. Profiles 1-5 are as such:
TP1: 10* Timing Advance / RPM Range 5443-20,016
TP2: 27* Timing Advance / RPM Range 5443-20,016
TP3: 45* Timing Advance / RPM Range 5443-20,016
TP4: 63* Timing Advance / RPM Range 5443-20,016
TP5: 80* Timing Advance / RPM Range 5443-20,016
You may notice that when any preset Timing Profile is in use, the Timing tab is inaccessible. This is because these presets are just that and are not allowed to be changed. To create your own unique setup, we have provided C1 and C2:
C1: Custom user profile, Timing Advance and RPM Ranges can be custom set and saved to this profile.
C2: Same as C1.
*Factory Setting is C2*
TP1: 10* Timing Advance / RPM Range 5443-20,016
TP2: 27* Timing Advance / RPM Range 5443-20,016
TP3: 45* Timing Advance / RPM Range 5443-20,016

4S 1900KV. Perhaps its not insulated so you can solder it? I don't recall seeing anywhere in the instructions about not insulating the solder joints. In fact when you do solder the wire to the post it in effect now becomes part of the "heat-sink" So whats the difference in 10 MM of insulation?
Does it look like the ESC arced between the posts? No it blew up inside the case.

Weight/placement issues aside, is there any reason one couldn't run an external Rx pack to power the Rx/servos? Is any special wiring necessary? I've tried caps with a few different servos and still having problems.

I'm running Castle's BEC and it is working great. Wire the BEC to the battery terminals and plug it into the Rx. Disconnect the red wire from the RX8 to the Rx. I run a patch cable between the RX8 and the Rx and cut the red wire on the patch cable, this allows me to still use the HotWire.
I've thought about that but as you noted, it does require wiring. All in all that's not a big deal, but if a separate LiPo Rx pack is simply plug-n-play, I'd rather go that route. This is in a 1/8, so I honestly don't see weight being an issue.

Hi guys. I've been running the RX8 with a 550 5.5 sc4x in an sc10 4x4 for a few months, no heat problems so I never hooked up the fan.
Now I'm up and running with my Mugen Eco since the RX8's came back in stock. 1900kv T8 on 4s. Motor's coming off right at 160, but so is the ESC around 160, I have the fan installed but it never seems to come on. Is there a hotwire setting to power up the fan or is this potentially a DOA item?
I recently sold the SC10 and dropped the setup sc4x in an SCTE (soon to be a pre-ordered pro4 4600kv, ahahah) and it's now pushing 140-150 too so I think it will also now need the fan installed.
Is there a trick I should know about to get the fan running at high temps? Thanks.
