I'm running a techno V4 MBX6 currently, been racing on a mid sized (20-22 second laps) high bite track.

I am geared at 17/46
Current limiter at 75
timing advanced at 20

The car is wickedly fast, after a 10 minute main it's coming off with the motor around 140* and 4 lights on the speedo (no fan).

That's geared too high
15T is good for a medium track and 16T for a very big track.

I based my gearing off of Rc Monsters gear calculator.

I started with zero timing advanced and 20 is where I ended up.
I get great power and run times with no heat issues.

He's not too far off gearing wise. Granted it's not where I would suggest it first off but if his track is flowing and this gearing setup works for him "feel" wise and temps are good I say "RUN IT!"

The track flows very well.

My average fast laps with E buggy are mid to low 19's and mid to high 21's with 2whl.

Randy,

What should the timing be set at for a good starting point?

What temps should the motor be coming off after a qualifier?

Thanks

Glad it's working out for you and im not the only one adding a couple teeth with great results. Tekin uns so smooth and cool! With Mugen's new ECO and Tekin's RX8 and T8 im stoked again on 1/8 electric. I have never ran any other gearing and used to run a Losi 82.0 but got burnt out but this ECO wow! I love it!

Glad you agree Randy! Love the feel!! My track is 125' straight fast and flowing smooth jumps nothing crazy big and the ECO holds corner speed like nobody's business.

Thats a tough combo to run on race day. I'd prefer to race 1/8 buggy and 1/10 4 wheel buggy together and 2 wheel buggy and truck together. Super hard for me to run 1/8 E buggy and 2 wheel 1/10 buggy in one day they are SSOOO different!!

I most of the time start in timing profile 2 since I know where to gear the cars with a 1900.

Temps are always track, gearing, and driver dependent. Say in 5 minutes I'd expect to see no higher than 150. 8 minutes say 170 and after that nothing over 200.

Those are on the high side for temps.

Gearing is far more important than motor timing. These motors are only 1-2T motors to begin with. They don't need nor like a lot of timing. This aint no 1/10 motor ya dig?

For sure Timing Profile 3 should only be used by the pro pros if you ask me.

On the RX8 should the sticker on the fan be facing up or down?

Something is wrong they will get you fixed up! Hang in there Tekin is the best thing out when you get her going and learn more about the amazing driveability of the Hot Wire software you will never go back trust me it is well worth getting any bugs worked out.
