it should not spin all the time.

But it beats not spinning when needed...

The fan comes on at 140 and off at 120. If it's running all the time take a good hard look at the wiring, etc for contacting the solder posts.

I worded my post badly, a better way of saying whats going on is that every time i check my temps (10 min intervals) i have noticed that the fan was on, but i am only getting 2 lights with the 19T and 3 lights with the 20T. Doesnt 3 lights mean I am good temp wise? does the fan come on at 2 lights? sorry for the misunderstanding. i am running a 4s set up on a Ve8 with a 1900Kv motor.

Yeah you're good as far as speedo temps are. I think you're undergeared unless you're running indoors.

For the average sized 1/8 outdoor track I'm geared 50/23 with a 1900 on 4s in my V8e.

wow 23T I was worried that I would over heat with a 20T. My track is an outdoor medium sized track. Thanks for the help.

I'd like to start by saying Tekin is the best 1/8 scale ESC on the market if you ask me. I have ran all the big name ESC's and they all have there issues. I have had these since they first came out and run them in my truggy and buggy every weekend. I have had four ESC's die on me over the past year or so and they have been replaced no questions asked within two weeks. That is a great percentage, record or odds however you look at for running every weekend. Tekin has the fastest return than the rest and the customer support is second to none. Thanks Tekin!

How much timing are you using in the speedo? What batteries are you using? I see the 25c so I'm curious.

My other thought is to ask if you're spinning up your tires quite a bit. Wasted energy spent spinning tires does generate a lot of excess motor temp.

If your speedo is hardly up to 100 degrees you're no where near needing a fan. Run without it.
So Randy,

My motor is nearing 190 on a big, big track. My speedo and battery are never hot (turnigy 25C 4S 5000 battery) The buggy runs much better when I gear it at 15/45 on the Losi 8B.

So should I just run the thing and stop worrying? I am a pretty conservative driver and don't spin the tires too much although the track is often loose, definitely not high bite. I do use the brakes at the end of the straight and to level the car off in the air, but I'm not on them all the time.

the bearing in the sensor housing seized up on my 1700kv truggy motor today. Can i replace the it with one from my LHS or do I need to send my motor in to have it fixed? I'm stuck in a bind because I wanted to practice today for this weekends trophy race and now I'm out of a motor. Its been working flawless for almost a year.

I believe the rear bearing is a standard 5x11mm. IMO, the bearings need to be removed and cleaned on a regular basis, if you race on a dusty track. The bearings are only metal shields, not really sealed against dirt. I take mine out, clean them, and re-oil them every two weeks when racing weekly in the summer. I'll probably get some Boca rubber or ultra-seal bearings for the motor before regular outdoor racing starts.

I'll be in plymouth tomorrow and can bring my extra 1900kv for you to pull a bearing out of.

with all of this talk about esc failing has anyone had theirs work for a long period of time? I am trying to figure out if most people dont have problems at all and that we are just hearing about the failures. I hope this is the case, I just purchased my tekin about a week ago.

I had almost a year on my first one and it came unmounted in my rc8 and bounced around before starting to stutter, so it was my fault. Second one has been going strong the past 3 months with a lot of hours on it.
