1700 would work a lot better on 5S, on an outdoor track. 4S would be OK on a small indoor track.

On 5s with the 1400kv motor I have been seeing around 185mah/min burn rates on the decent sized indoor track here (125ft x 65ft). Last summer on the big outdoor tracks it was closer to maybe 200mah/min. Temps are never an issue. Honestly its never even been warm enough to bother getting a temp gun out. I just finger check and its always just warm. Maybe 110-120 degrees.

On 5s it still gives me more power than I can put to the ground. I tend to like setups that are more to the tame side compared to what some people run. Easier for me to be consistent. Not that its tame. Still as much or more power than the gas cars.
It should be fine on either 5s or 6s. Its just a matter of gearing properly for the voltage you choose.

How much temp can the T8 actually take? Would like to know how much safety factor I have since I've been quite busy with my temp probe to actually enjoy running the thing.
Finally, my batteries are getting really hot (4300mah, 30C, 4S) after finishing the entire pack. Didn't really temp them but I estimate around 50 degs. Cutoff was set at about 3.5V per cell. Can you tell me if this battery is sufficient for my setup (ie to say the hot batteries are normal, or should I upgrade my Lipos?
Thanks a lot

Jhauts would you compare 5s-1400 to 4s-1700? I hear a few guys using 5s 1400 with sucess. If not I will just have to bite the bullet and get a new 1900. I also dont want to be geared to the moon. 4s 1900 on my car guys are using 19-21t so on 1700 I guess i would have to gear pretty tall maybe 24t?

I need some help with high motor temps. Raced the rc8b yesterday, 5S lipo, 1700kv buggy motor, MMM esc, 5deg timing, 21/46 gearing (rc8 has 4.3-1 truggy ratio), radio throttle epa at 90%. 10 min heat race, motor temp 191 deg, esc temp 95 deg. It was about 78 deg outside, the motor also had a heat sink and fan on it. I'm about ready to dump this motor as it just runs too hot, I have tried every thing I can think of to keep it cool with no luck. Am I missing something, any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: I can compare it to 5s - 1900, 1700 and 1550(truggy motor) setups though. With the 1900 and 1700 on 5s I spent most of the time trying to figure out how to tame it out a bit and make it easier to drive. The 1550 truggy motor was also a really nice setup. It actually felt very similar to the 1400 motor and ran super efficient. It might have even used less juice than the 1400 motor. Something strangely magical about that 1550 truggy motor in a buggy on 5s.
