Default Thank You

Hi Randy,

First, Thank You for coming over to rctech and posting your help, and info. for us too use.
I appreciate all the hard work you and every one at Tekin is doing to bring this new RX8 product to market. I am excited

I will be using 6S. 4000 to 6000 maph. LI-POs. and running the steering servo off of a separate 2cell LI-PO, using the "JR Z9100HVS - 230 oz/in (2S LI-PO) - .06 sec/60˚ (2S LI-PO)" servo.

1. Would you power the receiver through the RX8, or use the 2 cell?

2. Would you have an idea on what size LI-PO I need to run the servo in say a 20 mint. heat?

Thank You For The Help.

Adding an additional pack just to get the full benefit of the servo would be overkill and add a lot of weight. Most receivers are rated for voltage up to 9.0 volts, just add a Castle Creations external BEC and set the voltage to 7.4 volts this will run the receiver and servo at 7.4 volts off your 6s pack. The external BEC is very small and probably weighs 2oz or less.

As far as I know, the RX8 will have settings available that would make the CC BEC obsolete. You should run your servos through your ESC - just no need for anything else. Added weight and complexity to your system.

And to the Tekin guys - great job at the Silver State race! Now, . . . when can the rest of us enjoy the RX8?

Amain now states April 17 for the release date...

Please Team Tekin...we need these sooner, the racing season is here and we need the speedo's.

Randy is a good guy, I remember talking with him back in the day about the first Academy SBs as well as the Tekin G10s when tekin came back. Good guy.

so what place as the RX8 for the cheapest price, as well as the hotwire interface?

Here is a question I have for Randy when he gets back, you were one of those using a long shank pinion with the mechanical brakes with your Tekno vehicle correct? did you use that coast feature the RX8 has to simulate the freewheeling you get from the clutch? if so, how was it and how was runtime affected in your opinion versus a traditional clutch?

whew, just finished reading every post of this thread . so, here is my question:

1700kv on a 5s or
2050kv on a 4s

med to large size track. I also already have a maxamps 5s 5250 30c but don't care if I need to buy a 4s. I'm looking for 15-20 minutes with as little motor heat as possible. I have a pretty smooth trigger finger, lots of coasting and minimal braking. Thanks for any advice.

1700kv on 5S will give u less heat. More voltage and less amperage is needed so it will run cooler, and your current 5S should last you the time you are looking for.

Sooner would be good. Right now I would just like a straight answer of when they are going to be available.

I am shooting for about 43-45mph in my truggy when I get my RX8 and T8 1700kv. I ran a Novak HV 6.5 on 3s last year geared for about 40 and it ran pretty good, a little warmer than I would have liked it but never thermaled. I would like just a little more speed this year. If you have a gearing calculator you can figure it out easily other wise I can email you one if you need one.

A little over 40 mph is not going to add a lot of heat if any, it depends more upon the track layout and size that you are running on. If it is a small technical track then yes it will add a fair amount of heat. If it is a open medium size track it will not make it much hotter.

Hey Guys,

Still recovering from the Silver State race. Special thanks goes out to the guys hosting that incredible event!

The RX8 did very well over the weekend. We only had a few minor issues NONE of which were caused by the RX8. I had a brake servo lead get chaffed and cause some excitement(no brakes! LOL), I had a motor wire come off(cold joint soldered at the track) and a few Losi spur gears got stripped out.

We really wanted this to get done. This was the test of all tests. As you all know the Silver State race is one of the toughest venues in all of r/c. The races that are won there are often a battle of attrition and not just speed. Thankfully we had both!

I was able to qualify 3rd in the B behind some of the previous Worlds finalists like Ty Tessamen and Jesse Robbers. They only had one bump up spot and I was not able to get there. I had a pretty rough few laps and simply could not catch the leaders.

We had all the horsepower we could running the 2050 on 4s. We had 5 systems in the B main some running the 2050 others running the 1900 all on 4s. 3 led's and 150ish on the motors accross the board.

Now for the real "news' what you've all been waiting for...

We are going to ship these out as fast as we can. I'm sure that there will be some dissapointment since initial demand will be higher than what's going out first go around. We are going to push as hard as we can. As I told you in the past some will get it before others. The distributors are not going to hold onto these, that makes no sense. The team was packaging these while we were gone.

I'll see if I can get a snap shot of the huge boxes of RX8's going out the door for at leat "some" satisfaction...
