Take the motor and point the output shaft to your right and sensor port to the left. If the play you are talking about isn't right to left, but rather up and down, it sounds like at one point your bearings seized up and the rotor shaft was spinning metal on metal. If this was the case, there's nothing you can do besiedes get a new rotor.
Makes sense. Sounds like to answer my original question, bearing oil on the motor bearings well help prolong the life of the rotor. Or regular replacement of the motor bearings. I didn't have one seize but it did break down at one point. It's entirely possible there was a lot of friction in the bearing causing the shaft to wear. The problem is, i shimmed it and replaced the bearings and it has since developed more play.

I am having problems with my hotwire..

After installing and updating to the newer version of the program, my computer wont recognize the hotwire. When I plug into my esc's and open the program I get a message saying "unable to fine the hotwire"

Any idea what I should do? I already tried to re-install but I get the same problem.

@sunco1 Make 100% sure your Hotwire is fully seated onto the USB cable. The fit in the housing is tight where the cable goes.

Remove hotwire from your computer and load the new firmware. I had to do that when Vegas came out.

3 hole rx8 with 1900 in a Ve8. Coincidence or not, but after the last time I hooked it to hotwire I noticed that the ESC would not arm the motor unless I turned the wheels real fast via the transmitter. It then arms and finishes the race until I shut it down again. When I restart it again it does the same thing. Shake the wheels for 2 seconds and it fires right back up. I have steering and lights 1-2 and 6-7 are flashing on the Rx8. The motor also has a tiny little "tick". Dropping it, and banging it does noting. Only kicks in when I steer it. Reflowed all joints, and messed with the sensor cable.

Did some more testing to make sure it was something to do with the steering hitting a sensor cable or anything. It only arms when you shake the wheel fast 2-3 times. Did I miss an update where they put in some failsafe that arms the esc when you operate the steering or something ?

I need some help with calibrating my esc. I just got a new airtronics radio and i have it binded propretly. I ran the calibration setup and after I enter in the nuetral, full throttle and reverse settings the esc doesn't save and three red lights flash. I have servo movement but no forward or reverse. Any help would be great.

Randy. Running a 1900 in a rc8.2e. I'm running a 48 tooth spur. On a smaller track, what size pinion should I run if i'm running 10 to 15 timing? Also when should the timing come in and end? Any advice would be great.

Set neutral width on ESC to 5.

Extra bonus points but probably not needed...
If your radio has it (not sure of your model) go into the fine tuning feature on your radio. Higher end Airtronics have it. Go through calibrating throttle, brake and steering end points and then calibrate the ESC.

Somewhere in the 16-18 range. Leave timing at 10 and dont worry about RPM Range, default settings are good.

I just tried that and still won't calibrate. Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks

Which Airtronics radio do you have?

Set throttle and brake end point adjustment at 150% or whatever your max is.
Make sure your throttle and brake dual rate at 100%.
Set forward and reverse expo at zero.
Set throttle and brake trim at zero.
Make sure your throttle channel is normal, not reverse.

That doesn't work, try 15 neutral width on the ESC.

Maybe even a reset on the ESC if all else fails and try again. Re bind the radio to the reciever and try to calibrate after a hard reset on ESC. Fresh slate.

Normally the A is on the left looking the motor from the back then B then C
