Probably been addressed but would the 6.1 be better for high bite clay? Lots of people are gunning gear diffs at my track and seem to like them. Besides that i see some team drivers are running laydown on clay. Thoughts?

Piano wire of the correct size is $2. Bend your own bars or give ae $12 for the set. Choice is yours.

Laydown is the way to go for clay, but you probably want the ball diff. If your locals are running gear diffs you can certainly start with the 6.1 and try one, if it doesn't work it's a quick swap to the ball diff with the new gearbox.

You will also probably want to go to a softer set of springs than what the carpet car includes, but if the grip is high enough to run a gear diff the stiffer springs might work too.

Prices are a little different here and not all sizes are readily available. I made sway bars for the Xray truck I used to have, but it was not a bargain. At AE's pricing, I'll happily give my money to my not-so-local hobbyshop and support them. We spend hundreds on tires each and every year, so guess $12 for a sway bar set that does not wear is ok.

A friend of mine has put a 6.1 gearbox on his old car & found that two of the shock tower holes don’t line up.

Does anybody know which chassis brace is used with the lay back transmission? I'm considering doing the transmission conversion on my b6d.
