I am going to use a little bit of the guys Vegas setup and a little bit of Joe's. I will change the car based on how it feels. If it isn't free enough then I will go towards that guys setup. If it isn't planted enough I will go closer to joe's.
I am going to try Joe's setup this weekend.

Gear diff
I know there are a few ways to build the v2 gear diff but I thought I would share what Kiyo told me. Unlike Jilles Kiyo does not sand the big gears, instead he just trims them and makes sure they are properly deburred. On the inside he uses 5 x 0.1mm shims, 2 on the short outdrive and 3 on the large side. I built my diff like this and it felt a bit geary at first but once run in it was fine. Do not use the big kit shims because they will cone and make the mesh too tight, instead use the ones that are included to shim the axles. They don't cover the whole oring but that doesn't matter.
I also spoke to Jilles about his method, he said in addition to his YouTube video he's now using 2 x 0.1mm shims on the outside of each of the outdrives. This removes any slop and the chance that the gear diff mesh could tighten up when under load from the suspension.

Have anyone compared the TRF 417x chassis with aftermarket ones like smokem FX? If so, what are your comments?

U coming back to the blue side Ed?
Im looking forward to running mine next week, original 417 fitted with Smokem chassis, X shock towers and top deck and have chopped my motor mount up so it looks like the new 417X version. Although after talking to one of the guys on his return from TITC, Tamiya have a bunch of new parts already for the 417X.

I've still got my 417, but I'm really happy with the A700 at the moment, and the 7 is on sabatical. I'll decide what to do with it later... but I still couldn't resist picking up the DCJ's whilst I had the opportunity!
