Tekin RS ESC sensored
Thanks for the advise folks, I feel much happier that I haven't wasted my cash on the speed passion motor now.
One last question, should I put the timing on the motor endbell down to 0, or leave it at 10 as this is what I set it to to run on my Nosram Evo ESC.
I'm kind of guessing that I should go back to zero and play with the ESC settings, and if I can't get enough out of the motor try edging the timing up on the motor.]
Thanks

Leading up to the Paved Nats, I wasn't going to switch from v2.03 to v2.08. Both of my cars were very fast with v2.03.
Because I was only running WGT at the Nats, I decided to take a 'leap-of-faith' and placed v2.08 on my TC 17.5. As advertised by Tekin, I got more brakes than and no loss of speed with a significant drop in my motor temps on my 17.5 Duo 1. Therefore, I was a very 'happy camper'.
During the Nats, I took a second 'leap' with my WGT and got the same basic results...But was not really using much in the way of brakes.
In conclusion, I give the nod to the v2.08 software upgrade. You can possibly take advantage of the lower temps by going a couple more points in boost AND/OR adding another tooth at the pinion. Thanks Tekin.

Sidecarphil.
This is strictly speaking from my experience in the USA. At the Snowbirds this year the difference between mod and 17.5 laptimes was only .4 seconds a lap on an 11 second a lap track.
That would mean the difference between mod and stock on a 17-19 second a lap track would maybe be .8-1 second per lap.
If your laptimes dropped 2 seconds a lap its not just your speedo. Its something else Your car would have to of gone from 3.5 speed to 25.5 speed.
It has been said before. Is there a guy that doesnt run a Tekin that was the same speed as you in a straight line before? Is he 3x faster than you now?

The hot weather that is in the SF Bay Area now would be good to check for appropriate RS settings; but, my WGT is currently going back together with a non-boosted/non-turboed carpet setup for the IIC...Will be headed out for that final bash in Vegas next weekend.

You make a good point there. Fairtrace
During the paved Nats at Norcal the difference between 17.5X and Open was roughly 1 sec.
And that was a fairly open fast circuit.

Heres my setup
17.5 BOSS Motor w/max timing on motor which is 10 motor temp after 6min is 125 with fan
Boost 50
Turbo 10
Brakes 100
Start 3100
End 19000
Delay .1
FDR 6.0
I dont change the FDR much
13.5 Speedpassion V3 max timing 10 motor temp is 140 after 6 min. with fan
same setup as above
FDR 6.5-7.0 Depending on layout
10.5 Duo 2 0 Motor timing motor temp is 115 after 6mins
same setup as above
FDR 7.0-7.5 depending on layout
I decided on the RPM range just to make it simple, my opinion is it adds to much headache trying to adjust it for each motor. leave it the same and go race.

Need a little help.
One race weekend during the begging of the main ( about 2 minutes in ) 3/4 down the streight at full throttle all of a sudden the car acted like I went from full throttle to full brake. I tried the throttle and nothing happens, but the steering worked, this happened twice during the main.
The next race weekend the car held full throttle and would not stop ( run away ) the steering was fine but no matter what I tried to do with the throttle ( brake or neutral ) the car still was at full throttle. The only way I was able to stop the car was to drive it into the outside wall and turn the power switch off on the speedo.
I'm using a Venom 13.5 motor, timing set at 0 deg on the can, speedo timing set at 45 deg and turbo set at 15. the motor is coming off the track at 155 deg F.
Any suggestions,
Thanks

Turn turbo back down to 10, never run it above 10.

Thanks, I'll try that.
I'm also going to try a DUO1 13.5 in two weeks.

My cool weather California RS settings could be very dangerous to motor equipment in your hotter climate. You being in Florida should check with speedy Mark Burt. Being the person he is, Mark was very informative about his setups at the Paved Nats. A true team driver!
