Until you see how much the tires rub the underside of the body on the Camaro and Cuda vs. the tire rub on the Mustang.

Charlie,

Check back a couple pages for RobK and Scottrik's testing results. I think you'll like what you see. They are very close.

It also tells you if that is the lowest number, the lowest number of teeth you can get to mesh properly is 62 + 34 or 96 teeth.

If you make the spur a 66 and the pinion a 36, you can hit 4.22. I'm guessing you'll run out of space on the other end at around 64/28 for an FDR of 5.42. That's a pretty good range. This gets a tooth count of 102 down to 94. You will want to see if someone can loan you these ratios before you go drop cash on them first. Good luck!
Just to confirm, I can on the 62T go with a larger pinion, which can then drop the FDR more.

Vehicle came in today, holy crap a warchest of parts and have some nice mods on it too.

Perhaps this should be in the S400 thread but is anyone using an S400 for VTA and if so what powertrain are you using and what size spur and pinion are you using?????

Default Timing advance speedos in VTA

Are most tracks allowing the spx, sxx and tekin RS, Orion timing advance speedo's for vta racing?? I am wondering if i need to buy a new speedo for an out of town race. I get throttled in 17.5 sedan by these with my poor gtb.

the best thing to do IMO is see what Rob K and the USVTA decide on...if you have a GTB, just run it...most tracks are coming up with local solutions to slow down the cars...buy what you like as long as its within the rules...but just be aware that we all are looking for a solution...

You can go 1 more tooth, 2 teeth will put you over the max.

I've seen them in TA. They can lower their starting profile, turn down motor/esc timing and shut off the turbo. The correct way to address issues like this is to ask the gentleman/woman to kindly find a way to slow their car down to an acceptable race pace. Most good drivers will still drive a car that's .4 sec a lap slower much faster than the guy who gets fast lap, but his other 19 fast laps are 2 seconds slower.

Thanks for the info guys,

The VTA car was to be the home for the gtb since in 17.5 I need/ must have a different speedo.

I believe that event organizers should ask the participants to change the profiles/boost setting to comparable level so that if a "second gear" is seen that the racers gearing and profiles be checked via flashing light or laptop software.

either way the spirit in witch VTA is ran in must be kept.

"MOST IMPORTANTLY: If it's not in the rules, and does not encompass the spirit of slower, controlled racing with realistic looking cars, consider it illegal."

Kind of like getting a fine for "actions detrimental to NASCAR"

What we found (much to our dismay) was that the 1s / 13.5 combo was significantly faster than the 4-cell / 27T combo (which seems very comparable to the 4-cell / 17.5 combo). iir in our testing the 1s / 13.5 combo in a not particularly "dialed" car ran 10.0 fast times with best 5 and 10 averages in the 10.1's. This was within 2/10 of the 2s / 21.5 "control" combo being tested at the same time and some 7/10 faster than the 4-cell / 27T.

My bad. .2 isn't enough. Maybe 17.5 1S or the fabled 25.5 and a spec ESC.

At our local track, we banned the Tekin RS from the VTA class for obvious reasons. Everybody stayed away from it in the spirit of the class. Sooner or later, somebody will show up with one, and we will have to deal with it somehow. Just don't know how yet.
