Charts for Quick reference:

1) put inner bearing in hub
2) slide large shim over axle all the way up to the back of the axle
3) slide axle/bone into hub carrier
4) slide small shim onto axle through hub carrier
5) push outter bearing into hub carrier

using that i'm able to put my normal male silverback gorilla wheel nut tightening job and there's no binding. in the pictures that come with the shims (the pic socket posted) it seems like they want you to slide both shims onto the axle before sliding the axle into the hub carrier and like i said, that doesn't work.

I've traditionally done the diff screw head on the left side (driver's side), but have since switched to the Right side (passenger side) regardless of transmission type (3 gear RM vs 3 gear MM and 4 gear MM).

Kdub (Kurt Wenger, former AE designer) had this to say on the matter:

The right rear is the way the AE manuals state (or used to state). It really shouldn't matter since you go around turns both left and right.

I am looking for some set up help. I have a really bad push and the car doesn't feel direct at all like other b6 I have driven. I have tried a few different setups and gone through the car to make sure there is no binding in suspension or driveline. I have the correct tires for the track and have even tried the fast guys tires to make sure. It is great mid to exit but still has a lot of push.

I can't post the link to the setup but it is the Kurt wenger ocrc 9/21.
The only change I made is the rear shocks in the middle hole on the tower.
Any ideas of what to try next?

Your diff could be tighter than the other guys.

So, I assume this gets rid of the steering assembly's slop?.. I've yet to actually run mine but I can make a good 5degree of slop with it on the stand..

That shock stand is sexy Buddha but I wish there was another set of holes for the shock caps like the old school ofna shock stand which I currently keep on my pit table at home.

I had the same issue. To the tee. Same setup. Only difference was I had VRP piStons in. I believe I had missed a washer on top of a piston but shocks seemed to work fine. Threw some old b5 kashima shocks on it as a last resort. Worked like a charm. Push gone. It was either the mistake on the piston. Or, I'm beginning it may have been by switching the shocks the front piston was a 1.6 2 hole vs the 3 hole front piston. My 2 cents. It was probably my mistake on the internals of the shock/piston installation. But, Like you I Had tried everything and couldnt figure it out. It was definitely isolated to suspension though..bathe buggy just has too much steering to push like this

I have the type 1 Ackerman arms from schelle. I do not have his shock tower or front wing. I have the standard ae gull wing tower/hard arms. I believe it's a proline front wing I am running.

Would the tower make that big of a difference? Isn't it just thicker for better durability?

for the whole spur gear guards, what currently appears to be best solution or does getting the Jconcepts S2 body take care of that issue?

IMO...not really

But....If you plan to run the b5 rear shock bodies....they have been discontinued in NON-Kashima....so you will be forced to get them.....and you will want matching fronts....
