I would run 1.1/1.5 all round.

Can someone tell me what size drivers I will need to
Work on the xb4? I have everything for tekno 8th scale and have no idea what I will need for the xray 10th scale.
Also still need a pinion size to use with 8.5 motor. Looks like 20-21 is good start for my 6.5 motor tho?

Schelle just restocked all of their xray pistons as well.

Fyi you can't use any piston they won't fit the shafts. Xray pistons are thinner than others which limits you to use only xray specific pistons unless you go to a different brand shock shaft. I've used associated shock shafts before which opens up your options for pistons. There are probably losi and kyosho shafts that will fit also. As long as the shaft is close in length and same diameter you can make them work with spacers or unscrewing the shock ends slightly.

Xray is a metric kit so 1.5mm 2.0mm 2.5mm and 21-24t would be in the ball park for 8.5t. your better off running the 6.5t motor with a 20t pinion and protecting you motor from over heating, i run 6.5t motor on a medium size track and i can easily run 15 minutes and the motor comes of barely warm but still has tons of power, yet to achieve the same result with an 8.5t motor you would have to gear it a lot higher and risk cooking your motor.

re: shocks - the Avid pistons are great, make a difference you can actually feel, and cost - wait for it - $16, the rest of the shocks are all good.

I ran the 14 on high grip carpet with a 6.5 then a 4.5 turn for over a year, so high speed rolls and crashes were a fact, yet my total breakages were 5 arms in total, 1 gearbox case, 1 cracked front tower, didnt even bend a hinge pin.
I havent raced in a year but every thurs we race in my buds back yard 12sec lap track for hours . Pack after pack. I love the car its awesome . Sure we all break arms n stuff spindles . Hubs or what ever but when front bones snap fer no reason its kind of a let down. And yes i have the avid pistons . They recently wore out after a year. Cause my shocks were full of sludge even though we basically go through them and the diffs once a week as well. They get dirty way tooo fast.

Thank you... How about a servo? Are Spektrum servos good? I never used one before. Maybe the S6040? I don't want something that is going to glitch. I should be ok because I use futaba radio and Rx. My savox glitched like crazy until I switched to futaba stuff then it stopped. But will spectrum work ok with the futaba Rx and radio? Or any other servo suggestions? I don't want to spend more than $75 and I prefer to buy off RCT. I did see a hitec 7955tg a savox 1267, 1268 and the spectrum s6040 which seems like it had good specs.

I'm recently having issues with the pinion gear in the diff stripping out. Looks like only half the gear is making contact. Can u put shims behind the driveshaft and bearing. IM using the plastic gear now but waiting on local hs to get the back ordered metal gear. I'm guessing this must be happening to others as well

Yes you can shim the pinion deeper but make sure you check the mesh after. You might have to shim the diff over to keep the same mesh.

Ive read a few posts on the last page talking about the steel gear wearing out even faster than the composite gear, should i stick with the composite then? is anyone else having to shim like this?

I only have 40 runs on my car but I haven't seen any wear yet. I have only run the steel pinion but have run the gear(steel) and ball diffs(composite) without issue.

If you take the extra 2-3 minutes to shim the diffs properly during the build, I don't believe you will have any issues.

Thanks for the reply... I will start with 24t with the 8.5 or maybe just start off with the 20t with the 6.5 lrp motor. My next question...do I use a 48P pinion? Will all 48P have the correct hole size for the 10th scale motors? Cause I don't see any of these specifying what shaft size they are for.

I dont have alot of wrench time with the xb4,I didnt see anywhere in the instructions where it needed to be shimmed, can you go into detail on what shims u used? In front of the bearing or in back of bearing on output shaft?
