I just got a chance to wring out my GTB 5.5 powered Pro-4. VERY IMPRESSIVE. It's extremely fast, everyone who watched it now plans to pick up their own GTB 5.5 system...

With a 1.80 tire I would start at about a 27 or 28 pinion with the 5800. That's about a 1.55 rollout. I'm finding that it's better to gear extremely low and go up from there.

You'll know you're overgeared when the motor feels like it has no power in the middle. Good punch and good top end but nothing in the middle. It's funny but you don't lose all that much top end when you gear down (to a point).

With the 5.5 I was gearing at a 1.35 to 1.40 rollout in 12th. It's about like a good 10 turn or maybe even a 9 turn. It's hard to compare though because the powerbands are so different.

I think Im going to start the gearing between a 9.81 to 10.0 and go from there keeping the temps below the 160 range

Agreed-gear the 5800 untill the power band sucks butt. If you start low lke Unregistered suggests, then you get to feel the power band hit the sweet spot and then fall off HARD!

One of the other local racers that picked up a GTB 5.5 system, dynoed the motor(basically he hooked it up to the ESC and a charged battery, and stuck the motor in one of those RPM dynos). 63,000 RPM!!! No wonder it goes warp nine!...

Now the only thing for Novak to do, is to shorten those damn sensor wires.
I'd love to see if they could include a double ended plug cable. So that you could re-route the sensor wire sideways out of the endbell and not straight out.

I don't fancy having a crack at shortening those tiny teflon wires myself.
ouch...

I'm okay with a soldering iron, but i have to admit. i'm not exactly roaring to have a crack at those wires. They're much much smaller than i'm used to dealing with. Maybe it's wothwhile to take the car to a electronics store and trade a job for a couple of beers. LOL...

incidentally, have you run the 4.5 yet? Looks good...

My 5.5 is unreal...curious to see if the 4.5 will bend the laws of physics...

Don't just nail the throttle, you'll rip a hole in the fabric of space-time!
