Nahh, I prefer the red version. Plus it has some extra holes in the pressure plate which will make it lighter.

With my home made clutch I have thought of it but on the other hand just saving some tenths of a gram and at the same time loosing some support for the clutch shoe is not worth it.

But the best deal is this one:

I have seen these for just 35 dollar.

Default Little tip for C801

If you're using the wheel nuts instead of the quick releases I got a little tip.
Don't know if others already had the same idea but I thought it was a pretty neat idea.
I really like the look of the wheel nuts and they do a better job of mounting the wheel absolutely true to the axle (less wobble).
However I was a little frustrated with the pins always falling out of the axle when you remove the wheel.
To keep this from happening you can use a small piece of 1/8 shrink wrap to keep the pin in place when you remove the wheel.

Is the problem coming from the screws that hold the spur gear assembly or from the set screws which adjust the shoes distance from the drum (bell) ?

Please check the following message, it's advised to use some ca glue to lock the screws in place.

It is advised to use the small grub screw in the shoes for longer life of the shoes. We recommend to use some glue (ca) to secure the setscrew into the 2-speed shoe.

This only works if you do it from the start. Not sure if they are available yet, but we have tested some different shoes here in the US and they work great. I am sure they will be available, just check with your dealers.

Any thin CA glue/Super glue will work.

I think the new shoe is a little harder material and a smaller hole for the set screw to make it tighter to put in.

Always use the set screw, even for sedan. I do just to make the shoes last longer. I can usually go a full season on just 1 set of shoes if you use the set screws.
