We tend to want to have the servo saver pretty much locked down on the XB4 and I have not found a low profile servo that really can take the abuse of that. Stayed with the full size servo, have been running Savöx 1258TG with great success.

low profile servos suck. They are not nearly as durable as full sized servos. I only use LP servos when I have to because there is no room.

Tried quite a few servos and, believe it or not, the one I've liked the most is a Hobby King MI Digital one. Fast, tough and super smooth.

Nicer than a lot of servos 3 and 4 times the price.

Default Slipper assembly

I've read through a lot of this thread and haven't noticed anyone with this issue.
I'm in mid assembly and I just installed the center slipper and I feel like there is a lot of play when installed. I can move it front to back a fair amount. Is this normal?
Thanks

Yes, it has been mentioned before

Put a shim in before the bearings, this will fix it. The new yellow pad a sightly thinner then the original black pads, hence a little more back and forward play.

Note: you do need a little movement, so don't go shimming all of the play out.

Nobody I know is shimming the slipper assembly and so far zero issues. Might do it to remove just a slight amount of play, but so far no problems with both cars, the one I have now, and the one I had earlier in the year.

Thanks for the responses. I was just concerned that it might damage the bearings. I'll throw a shim in there for peace of mind. Nice build otherwise so far. This is my 3rd xray, by far my favorite manufacturer

Now you know someone who does.

I didn't say there was issue or problem either. Pads do wear, some people don't like that amount of play. It was something we did when running a Durango.

You don't have to do it, but I like fast lap times.

True that. I have some shims, wouldn't hurt to throw on a couple. As far as fast goes, my call is ballistic and am one of 3 drivers to do sub 17 second laps on my local track. Have you toyed with the 6 degree caster blocks? I have them but have not used them yet.

I have not tried them for awhile. We have our state title in a few weeks, so I will have two full days of practice. I may put them on for a run. I'm struggling with understeer on the 180deg corners, we have 4 of them. The club is planning on applying sugar for this meet, so the grip will come up.

Yeah, I had the same problem with off power under steer when the traction came up at LRH.dont know for sure if the caster blocks will help, but since it is way cooler and no humidity ( was running on an indoor clay track that the surface of the track was 98 degrees, and water evaporated as soon as it hit the track making things unpredictable was s challenge to setup for to say the least.

I moved the front inner camber link to the top hole (3mm of spacer on the outer position). This helped a little. Let me know if this works for you??? But I am still after a bit more.
