What do you guys do when the washers deform and make the diff bind up? Replace them, or just take them out entirely?

I had this happen to my 416x over this last weekend and I was wondering whether slightly thicker shims might do the trick. Anyone got any ideas. I had no issues with leakage due to not overfilling the diff. Other than that I loved the geardiff.

I always use 0.1mm shim then follow by stock o-ring in both halves.
Never have any problem about collapse shim and it turns super free, my diff still leak a little though.
If you carefully assemble the diff, you will notice that the o-ring sits too deep in its place, that might be the cause for collapse shim.

Dunno how you guys are getting the leaking issues. I built mine fairly straight forward.

Used all the stock parts. Coated the X-Rings with Associated green slime. Didn't overfill the diff. 1000K Kyosho oil. Standard gasket with a small amount of RTV gasket sealer...

Four race days on this diff now. Something like 9 6min quals, 4 6min mains, probably 5-7 6+min practice runs. By gas car standards this diff should be rebuilt but it feels perfect and no leaking.

I had the pin slot on one of the crown gears chip away after a wreck tonight and cause the diff to start slipping under power. I was running it without the shims. I replaced all the internals after that and everything was happy again.

I built my diff with the new seals (green slimed) and 2k oil, not overfilled, and it leaks all over the damn place.

Hi guys since there is talk about leaking between the two half and the seals i had a mate make me some out of double thickness and softer gasket paper so i could put .2 shims in behind the crown gear and to stop the leaking between the two half,s and had no problem since and for the o-rings i changed them from the new x-ring to a o-ring i get from work and no problem there to. I thought I would post up the results of my second go with the Spec-R gear diff. My first run with the diff I tried Mugen 1000wt diff lube with very poor results, this time I upped the diff lube to 3000wt with very positive results! After running four packs I was back up to my normal lap times. The rear of the car felt planted this time, so..so far so good. Now I just need to see how well it holds up compared to my Xray ball diff. Time will tell!

Same problem here.

I have the new x orings in, with an additional 0.1 shim on each side.
Diff not over filled with 2K oil.

Damn thing leaks by the outdrives, I read that there are new shims/spacers out for the gear diff.
Anyone where we can buy them from?

I also recently changed over to a 3R gear diff, waaay better/more robust imo and no leaking at all.

u can build a gear diff for cyclone TC using the NT1 gear diff.
use the front pulley of the TC ang patch it to the NT1 gear diff case. get the correct alignment and u should be fine...
