for the front shocks

the top nut that screws in from the front of the car

when screwed in all the way(nut inside the shock cap), is that a lot of play in the shocks? i can move mine a good 3-4mm back and forth =/

Your bushings are worn they should spin not move forward or back

But those bushings keep the shocks from shifting forward and back but allow them to turn as the suspension compress'

Same link they also include the Shock standoff's which are what the bushings go over and there is a lip to keep the bushings in place. Maybe the shock cap bushings hole is reamed out to where it's going over the bushings and the lip of the shock standoff.

Here are the standoff's

yes it does need to be flanged .they do wear out and its the flange that wears,so they get sloppy.i also use a nylon washer before i put the nut on,seems to keep them tight longer.dont forget theres a front and back to the shock caps.they only fit really good one way.

for those with leaking diff problems. I have used a gasket maker. Right now I am using some yamabond from the motocross days. A thin film on the gaskets and no more leaks. Dont use to much so it dont squish into the diff.
neither the slash or rc8b leak now

I can testify that Yamabond works. We used it on high boost applications in lsx cars with success to seal headgaskets. (on real cars LOL)

do you just sand on say, emery cloth on a flat surface? Yes.
