interim report out ... completed the build .... opted to simply dremel out an indent in the rear top plate to accomodate the regular bullets since I couldn't wait for the low profile ProTeks to show up ... I'll buy a new rear top plate if this one breaks ;-)

Anyway ran the B44.1 on the baseball diamond - mistake ... totally crudded up the interior with sand and gravel ... luckily had an air duster in the car ... somehow dropped the front right CVA when running on grass ... looking for advice on how to setup so this happens less if at all

dumb move - ran on the local street ... hitting somewhere north of 45mph *easily* ... can hear the slipper slipping on start up so I'll tighten that up soon ... anyway, crashed fairly quickly, broke a front A-Arm ... now I've been waiting for a regular replacement for about a week ... has anyone played with the GPM aluminum hop ups?

In all the years of running the B44 and 44.1 I've never had a front CVA drop out of the outdrive unless I broke a front arm. Check for cracks in the suspension and bulkhead, also check your shock setup for too much droop.

Front arms breaking is just a fact of life with the 44. Just buy a few packs of front arms, shock shafts/ends and some shock caps and you should be covered. Aluminum arms will just bend or break other parts of the car that are harder to replace.

I just finished my build and my front CVAs are right on the cusp of popping out at full droop. I like to drive on throttle, so I will likely add a limiter or two to the front shocks, but I have to see how it works as it sits.

Does anybody run an LRP SXX v2 or v1, NON TC spec in their 4wheel without any problems? Seems like everyone runs the TC spec.. Im about to pick up a B44.1 and have a brand new SXX that I could use if its enough speedo.

Yes. Several people at my track are running the standard SXX (V1 and V2) in 4wd without issue. I just wired mine up last night.

What kind of temps are you guys seeing, and with what turn motors?

Does anybody have more current setup sheets for the B44.1? All the setup sheets on the site are from '09 and '10 for the b44. Just wanted to see what all people were trying. I need a good setup for a blue groove, indoor clay track. Thanks.

Good luck. I have been trying forever to get a set up sheet for WCRC (hard pack clay) which they have as most of the AE guys race there all the time. Even emailed them and nothing posted.

I have almost got it all by just asking them each time I am there and making a few adjustments here and there.

Tekin 7.5 geared 24/81 with 12* of timing on the can. About 140 on the motor and 140 on the speedo after 7 minutes. SXX version 2 with the recommended settings of 3434.

I think I'll get rid of the boost and see what that does for temps. 7.5 is more than enough motor as is. I also have a small fan that I can mount to the chassis if all else fails. One of the locals runs around 180* weekly. He's running an SXX V2 as well.

Thanks for the info. I have a brand new in box SXX v2 that I might throw in the B44 I just got, although I still need a motor, Rx, servo and saddle pack

I'm running the $25 Gens Ace pack from HobbyPartz.com and I have no complaints. Delivered in 3 days too.

I run an old Sphere Comp with an X11 8.5 turn. Obviously no timing. I get 130 to 140 degrees on the motor and less than 100 on the ESC when geared at 22/78.

Nice. I'll try a 23 tooth pinion which will take me from a 8.78 FDR to 9.15, which is closer to your 9.21.

A lot of guys running the B44.1 are still using something very similar to the US std lipo setup or the Thielke with the softer springs and a bit heavier on oil. Not a lot of change, some have moved the ackerman forward if they are looking for more turn in.
I don't get a chance to run a lot of indoor in my neck of the woods but speaking with some of the guys closer to indoor tracks, they start with similar concepts
