Where is it slinging oil out from?
The spur gear? Then that would be the Diff housing=sand it slightly, edge should be evenly flat all the way around it.(before I did mine I noticed the edge was beveled)
The CV cups? Then get the new clear Orings for the diff.

the back of the spur gear where the spur and the diff housing meet

Have you also noticed with these since you RAN THEM ALL LAST SEASON... That when the battery gets low and you shake the case the battery moves inside the case? Sorry but EL cheapo batteries and case!!!!! No breaks started happening on my car until I put the blue lipos in it and started running a little harder on her! IMO your opinion of me "being in over my head" can lick my opinionated balls
No offence or anything!
If I wanted to stay with a slash I would have stayed with a slash! I bought this to LEARN!!!! If I waste my money on it and throw it all down the drain on this car then so be it! I know I am not the greatest driver in the world, Heck that was my first time at the track with a buggy and third time at a track ever!!! Of course I am going to have breaks here and there and spend most of the day on my back but thats all apart of learning. You were there one day just like everyone else in this forum. I'm sure no one started out a pro! I came here stating what happened over the weekend not to get posts saying i'm in over my head!
OH and BTW I showed those batteries to a few guys at my track and they COMPETELY agreed faulty cases because they witnessed my driving!!
Anymore comments?
Well good luck to you. The funny part is that a guy came on here about month ago wanting to start his kids in 1/8 scale and everyone pretty much recommended to stay clear of them at that age. I feel that grown adults that don't have a clue on how dangerous these are can be just as bad. And when you decide to sell it after you have completely beaten it to death, don't be surprised on the resale value. FYI, yes, I did notice the battery movement in the case, but using my own common sense before I ran them, I sprayed foam great stuff in them to allow for expansion and no movement is in them what so ever. If you want better quality/safer lipos then you have to pay for it. Also, those blue lipos were probably soft packs and they are no better than what you purchased as far as safety. Remember rubber is faster than lexan. At least your honest and came out and fessed up to your new skills, but it's in poor taste to blame the manufacturer after the self-incrimination that you explained to all of us. Why do we all complain about the cost of stuff in the U.S., it's because of people like you that want to game the manufacturers from their own mistakes and the rest of the customers end up paying for it.

It's all preference and about repeatability. Ryan Lutz has an awesome video on his website showing how he does it so it's the same every time. In fact here it is:

I use 555 in electric and nitro. It is what is recommended, a good starting point, and it works for me. You can go down to 3k or 2k in the rear if you don't think it rotates fast enough for you with 5k in it.

Speaking of diff. gaskets, I use the Thunder Tiger ones. They come in a pack of 10, and have 3 different thicknesses available for the same price of 4 from AE.
I have found the thin ones seem to be the closest to the stock AE gaskets.

Oh, okay. Thanks for the compliment. I'll probably be out there on Thursday night. For sure though, I going to practice out there on Sunday with some friends. If you see me, come over and say "hi". I'll be working on getting this twitchy buggy under control.

While I get what you're saying - it takes all types. I'm sure there's a few types at the track:

1. The dorks (as you stated)
2. The "Know-it-all's"
3. The guys that don't care and just have fun
4. The guys that care way to much and have no fun

And of course..

5. The loud mouths..

And that's where I think you come in

Slash to RC8be.
Rough racing, bad driving, to poorly constructed batteries...

Just way to much controversy around your posts man. Seriously, I dont' mean too much offense - but there's a couple of pages now of silly stuff that if you didn't tell me you were going to be a father, I'd guess you as a teenager.

We have to get back on topic with this thing man... except, I wonder if we've run out of things to talk about on the wrenching specifics of the RC8be.

+2 - Totally lookin forward to Gregg's new informative post.

Should I add this information in here, should I create another thread, should I attach a word document to a post. What's the best way to do this?

I need to get to some PMs too.

Hey i know this has been gone over but with 335 page in this thread its a little hard to go threw the hole thing so i hope some of you could help me out with this. I have the rc8 that i converted to electric right around the time the rc8b's were coming out with intentions to race but just never got a chance with work and other things, but i was wondering will i even be able to compete with say the losi 2.0 or even the rc8be with my rc8. Should i forget about it and get the rc8be or could i upgrade for cheaper. I have the ft rc8e now but was just wondering how much better the rc8b is then what i have now. Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can give me.

good questions.

which conversion kit?
I would also want to ask how long you've been driving it on a track. I think the driver makes up most of the performance.

I know the shocks hold more oil, not sure if the trans and diffs are different or not, and the shock towers may also have different geometry.

I hope someone else can help you more
