Wow u guys are fast. 2 full pages later lol. Thats good though, sometimes I wait days for an answer to something. Anyway after my all nighter, I did read that people were having issues with their LRPs for 8th scale. BUT, and this is a big BUT, I ran the rs pro for a while and went through 2 of them due to cooling issues and it wasnt user error, just to many adjustments that when they didnt work in harmony it ran too hot. And on a hot day I was surprised the thing didnt detonate. IM very hesitant going back to that brand. However I have owned a MM back in the day with no drama. How is everyone getting on with the mmp? Forgive my ignorance but is it sensored? And it is it smooth and good for racing? And if so which do you all recommend?
Believe it or not Ive owned, and still have, some hobbywing stuff and theve outlasted all my big name stuff

you are referencing 10 scale esc's for 8 scale...no wonder heat was an issue.
you need to step up to the RX8 or MMM
I am in Austin

There are many problems with the SPX8 at least from my experiences and others Ive seen especially with there C/S this the reason why the Tekin and MMM is popular with 8th scale, also know many even with there known problems going with LRP b/c of the weight savings they are lighter than other 2 above.

Oh ya thats why ever since my exerience with the heat, cooling is an obsession for me. When the season starts uo here, track temps will be shoting upwards towards the 100's and I need to have a reliable system. Im just wondering if the tekin drives any better than the MMM. But if it runs hot, Id rather deal with the sensorless and adjust it via the castle link.

you will want a tekin rx8 combo man, trust me they are so smooth and when they use to have problems it was only the casing its all been clarified now and fixed so dont warry about problems with a tekin rx8 combo, buy one feel the experience and enjoy

I have both the RX8 & MMP and they are very similar. Niether of them run hot. I dont even run the fan on the Tekin and it never got above 150 degrees including some hot race days last summer.
Of the two, I prefer the Tekin for its smoothness and team support. The ESC programs they have posted on their website are very helpfull. I found the Castle support to be lacking in comparison.
You cant go wrong with either one.

No, I never used a 10th esc scale to run a 8th scale car lol and never mentioned it like that, I ran the RSpro in my dex410 and it wasnt as smooth as my LRP, actually I took so many seconds off my lap times with my LRP it was really unbelievable. I figured their 8th stuff would be good too but Ive read of too many issues and dont want to deal with problems. Which system do you run?

I had the 1900kv in buggy and 1550 in my truggy. Both purchased when they were first available and still running today with buddies that I sold them to.
I actually converted my 8BE back to nitro for this summer but will be running the 1700 tekin system with the new iteration of the 8BE in May if I do not just buy a new buggy.
the new one has a longer chassis, new a-arms and shock towers.
check out Maifield talking about it

Ok sounds good. In general I prefer running a sensored system so it will probably be a 1900 rx8, god Im going to get so much flak for buying another tekin product lol. Any way, how about gearing for that system? I know its mostly dependant on track size etc but what is a good round about start point? And does the kit actually come with a pinion or no? Cuz the nitro kits usually come with a clutch bell, Im wondering if the same holds true for the 8th electric stuff
