When it comes to engine mods, if the modification is visible to naked eye, chances are it is doing next to nothing for engine performance....Cuts on the exterior of a sleeve do next to nothing but look pretty...that I can easily prove if you don't believe me....To a untrained eye my craziest modified engines look bone stock..yet will put out as much as 50% more power then stock and have a 15000 rpm advantage over stock....Yet they look no different then what came out of the factory....

So all I was saying is looking modified and being modified are two very different things.....Send me one of these new gen Go engines and I will show you what I consider modifying an engine......

In other word the term "factory modified"is nothing more then fluff , and almost an insult to someone like me who does real modifications......
Sounds to me like your wasting your time posting on here. A man of your obvious (and modest) talents should be heading an engine manufacturing company (like GO say). Then you could show them all where they are going wrong. I wouldn´t think GO even know you exist, much less be worried about ¨insulting¨ you with their promotional wording. Get real Neal. I´m sure your work is excellent, but you need to take a reality check on were you stand in all of this. If your that up with the play, then take the plunge and start building your own engines from scratch instead of knocking eveyone elses efforts. Just my take on it.

Yes sir. The 2072 really makes the GX-5R bark. Nasty bottom end, and great mid through to top end.

I want to stop this dead in it's tracks. Where do you get your information from? I have ran 40% nitro two times. At the ROAR Nationals in Colorado (extremely high elevation, thus majority of drivers were doing the same) and for my World Record Long jump car at the Psycho Nitro Blast. Outside of that I run 30% or 20%.
Also to say I go through motors like they were clutchshoes is completely false. I think I used 8 engines last year total. Buggy and Truggy combined! You show me one other pro driver out there with my race schedule who can say even close to the same. All my engines have lasted me around 7 gallons or so before I retired them, not because they gave up on me.
Please don't post baseless, uninformed information about me or what you 'think' I run. It's very easy to 'know' for fact what I run, It's called asking me.

Thanks for clearing that up, Ryan. There are a lot of myths and half-truths that are passed around the community about what pros actually run. It's nice to see you guys come on here and set the record straight.

+1, the majority of pro racers normally run 30% that ive noticed, and 7 gallons on a motor is about average before needing refreshing. drive it like you stole in ryan! enjoy watching you race!!!

Agreed.. The only time our guys ran 40% was up in Colorado last year. Puddin' called me and asked about shimming for that much nitro, and I was thinking "WTF is he doing that for?" Then it hit me much less atmospheric pressure. I think we settled on four shims (two aluminum and two copper), due to the increased compression of 40%, even at higher elevations.

Maybe chris peralta can confirm this, since he runs up there.

Anyways, I digress... the only "special" engines or parts our guys ran last year were GX-5Rs with a differently coated crank. As of right now, we have a total of 4 prototype GXIIs, which is the final revision. These are the same as will be available next month.

As for "special" fuel blends, etc... I believe all of our team guys run either byrons or nitrotane, and it's the same stuff that's available on the store shelf. Only difference is they have it shipped directly to them, and it doesnt sit on a store shelf.

EDIT: Danel Ornelas runs a brand called "RED FOX," which is sold in Mexico.

I don't know how many people here have met Ryan Lutz, I have. He is one of the world's fastest (best) racers. In my opinion he is also one of the nicest and most sincere people I've ever met. It's my opinion that his integrity is beyond reproach. I accept his statement as FACT. If anyone noticed, Ryan stated he goes about 7 gallons before retiring his engines. He didn't say there were worn out or exploded. If I were a top racer, I certainly wouldn't wait til an engine failed to replace it. Who wants that to happen at an important race?

Neil (maximo) has been modding engines since I started in nitro with my HPI Savage ages ago. I can count on one hand the number of modders that have invested in a dyno (the most expensive, accurate, and impersonal tool a modder can have). I trust his findings and his work. He does whatever is necessary to achieve an engine's maximum performance. Can a factory do this and be competitive in the market? It would be very difficult. I think the price vs. performance issue will always be around. Some engines are right there in both categories.

That being said, We at this thread like our GO engines. We think GO continues to improve and the new GXII may very well be right up there.

dont think it going to happen, pittsburg is a much stronger and quicker team both offence and defence, will be a good game though!! oh, and i LOVE my go engines!!!!!

So, the 3 port gxII's are going down? I still say it is a very underrated engine. Mine done by racer22 has more low end grunt then my- oh never mind! Granted even geared up a tooth it does-not have the legs of a 7 port,almost but not quiet. I have yet to run the modded 7 port gen 5.5 Rex did for me. All's I'm stating is how much is to much? for me the 3 port has enough. If you can't put the power to the ground where it belongs and control it what good is it? I think modding to be more efficient is the real benefit. I may one day[soon I hope] make it into the pro level at our local tracks but driving on a national level? Doubtful even in the over forty class.But I do have fun doing this and am very grateful for the partial sponsorships I do have. So to the Ryan Lutzes out there thank you! I may never reach your caliber of driving and need the power that your talents demand. But I do have a 3 year old grandson who one day maybe the next Ryan Lutz!

I once saw Ryan run an engine on water. The reason for that is because his top secret modder told me that he was able to stuff an actually Clydesdale on a gerbil wheel inside the motor.



I can confirm that last year at the RC Pro race in Lafayette Ryan was running a bone stock motor on 30% fuel and spanked everybody. Oh and pulled off a backflip in the A main.
