You could always join the Super Saver club at Tower, and order the car, radio, ESC/motor combo from there with a discount. With the super saver club, you get free shipping on any order over $150, and you get coupons for up to $50/$60 off any order over $300.

You can find decent LiPos from www.hobbyking.com. They're from overseas (but they do have a USA warehouse now), so the shipping time is a little longer, but I was able to get a 5S 40C 3000mAh and a 6S 40C 3000mAh battery for just over $100.

It's certainly not a cheap car, though. That's for sure.

I paid $359 shipped for my kit from Tower with the Super Saver Club discount. its now $50 versus $60 so you're looking at $9.99 for super saver, get the super saver codes off the post I posted earlier and you're at $369 for the kit, no tax, shipped to the door. $259 for the mamba monster, just make a separate order and use the coupon code again. And from Tower the Kit and the mamba monster is on easy pay. Its like $180 a month for 3 months.

Kit Tower $369
MMM 2200 Tower $259
Spektrum radio with Rec $99
steering servo $60
Lipo from hobby king $60
$847 unless you need a lipo charger, in which you can get one pretty cheap.

Billy, how long did it take for the HK Lipos to come in?

Buy a used one here. I just gave $250 for a nitro version on here brand new with a ton of spares, over $300 in spare parts. $80 for the conversion kit and your below new kit price for a car with a spare parts. I run the Tekin RX8 in mine. Don't forget tires and wheels. 1/8th scale isn't cheap in any way except possibly maintenance depending on your routine for maintaining your cars. You can get a Brand new RC8Be kit from amain for 385 shipped.

I ordered on Christmas day, and the package arrived this past Tuesday. What's that? Like 11 days, right? So not super quick, but not too bad, IMO.

I was afraid that they'd do that. I heard they have them for $400 earlier this year. If they give you $20 back, I'm going to have to call them too!!

BTW, I'll take some pictures of my build so you can see the motor mount and all that stuff. Right now I'm just waiting for all the air bubbles to rise out of the shock oil.

11 Days isnt bad, still new years in there. Also I emailed them to see if they would do it, just so I dont forget to call. I will let you know what they say.

Also you should just bleed the shocks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdJYw...eature=related 7:07 starts the shocks.

I just checked with the bare battery tray. They fit with plenty of room side-to-side. On the length, it looks like one of the wires will hit the tray. It shouldn't be a big problem to trim the backside of the tray to give the wiring some room. I measured the 6S battery with some calipers, and I came up with 40.5mm x 44.5mm x 137.5mm, but of course the way the wiring exits the shrink, the length is a bit longer where the wiring is located. You could turn the battery on its side so that the wiring wouldn't be a problem, but I don't know if it would be too tall.

I am gonna be getting a rc8be soon and was wanting some help with my motor and battery selection. I am trying to decide between going with a 1400 Tekin with a 6s battery or a 1700-1900 Tekin with a 4s battery. What are the pros and cons of each. I will mainly be running on a small-medium sized track. What would the difference be in runtime between the two? Looking at 5000 mah packs for the 1700 or around 3000mah for the 6s.

Thanks for replies.

If you are racing in any sanctioned ROAR events, 4S batteries are the biggest you can run. Also you will find that 4S on a small track with a 1900 motor is plenty fast, 3000 6S battery, you wont even finish a race with that unless its about 6-8 minutes long. And they are heavy and dont fit in the tray well. So for the track you should be looking at 4S 5000MAH 138MM long packs.

If you are just bashing and doing speed runs on the street, buy whatever you want.

Are any of you running this? Speed Passion Silver Arrow V2.0 1/8th Scale Brushless ESC/Motor Combo (2200kv)? It's 139.99 and seems like a steal.

Towerhobbies is still less with a coupon. $399, plus $20 to join the club, free shipping, minus $50 is only $370. But then you also get discounts on shipping parts and more members only coupons for a year.
