I could get it loose, that Viper had no problem spinning me out.
I highly recommend you check out the Viper mod motors, they would rip on the MMP.
I have tested the new 17.5 prototype without the adjustable timing as one of the hobbyshops I hang at gave it to me to mess with. Not bad at all but will be better with the ability to adjust the timing on the motor mechanically plus with my MMP. Otherwise a very nice looking and running motor. I know the shop is waiting on the production version adjustable timing models. They are getting the 17.5, 13.5, 10.5, and already have a 4.5 and a 5.5.

Picked up a Viper 8.5T at my local hobby shop today. Put 4-5 packs through it in practice, and so far very impressed. Smooth, good power, and low heat after each run. Looking forward to racing it tomorrow.

Don't worry I was already on it. They ordered two VST 17.5s, two 5.5s, and a 9.5. Luke actually had them overnighted He must be taking care of someone out there! Hope that race is going well. Thanks for the business!

Anthony - Thanks for picking one up! Glad you're enjoying it. The 8.5 comes with a 12.5mm rotor but I actually like the 12.3 or 12.0 to smooth it out even more Option rotors will be arriving Monday. You got mail.

I have mine now and his partner has the other one. The new 5.5 was used in a dirt oval sprint car on Sat and Sun. I did tech so I didn't get to see that one run but Luke will more than likely let you know how it was.

The new 17.5 looks great. The adjustable timing setup is very nice and clearly marked and easy to read. Its installed in my truck so Friday I will practice for are big offroad race and know for sure how it is in my SCT. Can't wait to try out the new version.

I have to give props to Viper... Over the past year I have been a dealer for a few motor manufactures. Never have I been asked how a product I sell has preformed, ever! However I am in constant contact with Viper, they have been AWESOME on the dealer side I can only imagine what their service is like for their customers.

I wish all other R/C companies out there where as responsive and caring as Viper.

THANK YOU!!

For those that have the viper esc what do you think about it? I have a tekin speedo and I run a 17.5 some times and I run about 50 boost, for those that ran this speedo with a 17.5 and ran boost how would you compar it yo tekin? Thanks,

Ty

That's correct, we are in final development stages with the 1/10 esc's. We have yet to do a comparison of the Vtrax10 boost against the Tekin, but we will shortly. Most of our drivers were running LRP esc's before so we have lots of testing against the SXX, SXX TC spec, and SXX V.2's.

Running mod TC I was able to achieve equal power and speed with my VST 7.5 on the Vtrax10 with boost as I was with my SXX TC Spec with profile 9 (very aggressive). Peter was running a VST 6.5 in mod TC and achieved the same power with the Vtrax10 withOUT boost as he had with the SXX TC Spec running moderate boost.

We will have a new generation of prototypes very soon. We will keep everyone updated with the results and progress

Weylin ran the new adjustable timing Viper 17.5 this weekend in my new XXX SCT at are big race. My truck wasn't setup as good in the 1st heat when I ran the Viper vs the other heats when I ran my DUO2 but funny thing was my fast laptimes in all the rounds where less than a tenth difference every round. I felt that the Viper seemed a little slower but it wasn't true by the laptimes.

Next race will be a normal club race so I can test all day now since I have laptimes to go off of now. I want to try my Viper with one tooth in gearing with my current speedo setting as it seemed really good this way in the other DUO2 I ran. I think the Viper might benefit also with that one tooth lower gearing as the DUO felt much better from the tooth drop.

Just need more testing. I did have another guy who burned up a motor run the test 17.5 Viper with no timing and he really liked it. I setup his speedo and gearing for him and it was the best he has ran and will be buying his own adjustable timing 17.5 Viper right after Christmas.

Do you suggest changing the stock setting on the timing on my Viper 17.5 for offroad or go with the stock setting? I never really checked to see where its at to be honest other than I see I can change the timing now. What is the factory set timing on the 17.5?

Thanks
Brian
