im sorry harper , i was at a 3day race this weekend which i did well at , engines were great as usual , lots of novas from me in the a mains (including mine)
do you have the brand new n21r limited? if so yes , the last version which had a sport engine head on it with a big hole in the middle should be reshimmed to .80mm from .70mm but it is not 100% necessary , it will aid in making your engine easier to break in also
hope this helps

Hello Mr. Montey, I am breaking in a plus 21-5k for my truggy, I normaly race buggy, but wanted to try a new class, and boy was it a blast. I used my buggies plus4 in her and was not bad at all. Will my 5k with a 063 pipe set work well in my truggy? should I reshim her for 30%, if so what specs? I have a little over a quart on her and did notice a little slop when stuck at tdc at the connecting rod and journal I asume as I have not opened her up since new when sealing it, is this normal on the 5k? I was thinking of 77 or 100 odonnell plug for it. Can you shed some light for me sir. Thank you.

All, what would you think is the main reason for a mill with the idle beginning to go way too high "by itself" once the car has been stopped? That's assuming all the peripherics (linkage, tank, exhaust, blablablah) are right... The temps we're experiencing around here (95+, mill at 260) are really unusual...
thanks,
Paul

We have had the same issuse here in Denmark.
1: Even on a warm day, don't use a too cold plug. Both Novarossi C5 and C6 can be too cold. Try an O´Donnell 77T or an OS P3.
2: Don't run too small venturi (like a 6mm!!!
). Try an 8 mm. You will still get good runtimes in the warm weather
3: Make sure the HSN is lean enough. Turn it in untill you can hear its too lean, and then out a little.
4: Set the LSN after Bernard Durands video. http://www.neobuggy.net/modules/news...p?storyid=7253
Hope this helps

That's what I was thinking too... I fattened the LSN but it didn't change much. Then again, now I think about it, the temps were so friggin' high that I probably didn't leave enough time to the mill to cool down anyway.
This is my second nitro season, and the first time I run with these crazy temps. Very unusual around here
Thanks

1- I usually run Odo97T in that ToroNero of mine. I went to a nova 7, I don't pull these out of my glowplug box very often... was still doing it.
2-
True... my learnings from the previous days is, small restrictors + high temps = PITA to tune!!! Even the stock 6.5mm. I'll try the 8mm next time, hoping I can still hit the 8mn mark.3- Yes sir!
4- I hate this vid
I've seen it many times already and it doesn't really reflect reality, ie the "iterativity" of engine tuning at the track, which means you don't necessarily get it right in 2 steps only... Plus it's a pristine example of giving the bad signal that you can tune a mill while it's only run 2mn on the starting box... All it shows in the end is that you shouldn't allow the mill to 4-stroke at idle, like good ole' Ron said it years ago
then again I think the culprit was the LSN

Amen to that. You just can't warm up an engine in few minutes. It takes much longer. On the other hand, the video would be BOOORING for the first 10 minutes!!!

The engine in the video is preheated and ohyes you can tune the lsn/idle in in 2 steps , it takes some special skills though.
I can tell you right now there are not many who can , whether the tuner be a super fast guy or some. Average joe
Btw , that video is quite useful
I gots lots o' engines , lmk what u may need guys ;D

Use the 7 or 7.5mm , why they come that way? Only novarossi can answer that but my best guess would be a mileage thing

Ok cool. Well break in is going perfectly. It's like this engine was waiting for me this whole time. LOL. I pre heated the first 12 tanks. The engine stalled one time 15 seconds after the first start. Hasn't stalled since then. Had the head wrapped with foil and a 10th scale truck tire foam till tank 10. It has been running steady and predictable like Novarossi's do.
I have another half gallon till the one gallon mark which should be tonight or early tomorrow. Then I'll take it to the track saturday morning for some practice and pipe/clutch tuning. I wish I had ordered this in time for the Futaba challenge this past weekend. I would have made the expert A main for sure instead of BQ with my backup oval engine. LOL.
This baby will rock up in Omaha, NE for the RC Pro race at the end of August.
