if you get all the elements right , you should .
i had exactly half a tank left in the buggy after a 7min qual also , most others were pittin after 7:30 .
in truggy i was running a houston tuned plus 21-5kt (could of got that runtime with any engine , just what was in my truck
)
runtime boils down to properly jetting the engine with restrictor and tune , the proper pipe and having a nicely sealed up crank case .
kyosho st-rr , plus 21-5kt , 7mm , odo77t , kyo blue alu. w/1.0mm springs , 13/50 gearing , byrons gen2 pro driver , 250°

Hi Monty
hope all is well
Can you please tell me which venturi brands fit nova carbs? I want to pick a 6mm restrictor for some of my NR mills, but not sure which one to get and I can't find/afford the Nova one anyway (if there's such a thing). GRP? Werks? Losi?
Thanks for the help

Hello Monty,
I'm new here and the 1/8th scale. I bought a JP B5n that has a new p/s in it. My question is, I had just bought a gallon of O'Donnell 20% race fuel before I bought the JP so I started the break in process with it. Will it hurt anything to switch to 30%? I will be getting the 30 soon as I have another motor to break in also.
Also, I need to order that dynamite gasket set that comes with two silicone gaskets and the springs for the header to motor and header to pipe.
Thanks a bunch for the info in this thread, learning a TON from everyone!!
Thanks,
Mike

What fuel are you running?
I'm a little surprised, that the Byron fuel doesn't burn clean - there are build up on the piston and the combustion camber. On the other hand, I'll guess that is because of the castor oil

Well this past weekend I was at a race with Monty and he had told me about times were people have broke-in their engines at too cold of a temp and some type of schalack builds up between the piston and sleeve actually making the pinch tighter and taking longer to break-in. ( If I remember the conversation right) My Nova + 4 is still in the break-in period. I just wanted to let him know I don't believe this is happening with my engine at all.

It will not hurt anything to switch from 20% to 30% but make sure the engine is properly shimmed for the nitro percentage you choose to run

Nothing wrong with a little carbon build up on your piston

Thanks Monty,
I'll have to check with the PO on what shims are in it bit I would think that its shimmed for 30%. One more question, is this JP a good motor? I think that it is a Nova based motor and what I CAN find on it people say they rip. Don't know yet as still breaking it in and waiting for servos for the truggy and buggy, hurry up mailman!
Thanks,
Mike

Use a 6.5mm in truck and a 5.5mm in buggy
