I haven't ran my revo 3.3 for a while(about 6 months). When trying to start the motor it doesn't 'turn' that much. I was wondering what I can do to 'loosen' up the engine. Or if I need to buy a whole new one. The truck is completely stock also.

wd-40 will free all the parts up frank

be sure to relube with good oil after using the wd40 though

yea i dont use nitrothane. the top of the piston is sticky is this normal? he had no problems before he could get it to move past the pinch but he said its gained pinch now,

will it hurt anything if i put it back together and heat it up and try starting it? when i was turnin it over by hand i got it to 225

i think i met you but not sure

like i said , you probably should clean out the piston/sleeve and start with some other fuel . seems like your sidewinder fuel could be an issue to me .

carefully take it apart and inspect for any problems . if it is really gummed up then yes soak it in fuel or wd40 also works great . that one i just cleaned out i needed to actually scrape all the gunk off

When i had it apart lookin at it the sleeve and piston looked clean. It was slightly sticky on top of the piston but there Wasnt any gunk on it. Should i still clean it or just seal it? it just seems really tight . Little excessive. Would it hurt it to heat it to 300 with a heat gun? Btw why are my collet just free spinin on the shaft. I have to pinch the collet with a pair of pliers to make it snug on the shaft. thanks for helping me you wouldn who i was if you seen me we met

Plus 4, turbo head. Do I add the shim to the other shims?

Thanks Brother,

When you coming back down?

Houston/Monty,

I am currently running dynamite platinum plugs with my n21bf limited/dynamite 086 pipe . Ive tried cold and now medium but cant really tell any difference. Ive seen on here that odonnel plugs would be better. My problem is which temp plug I should use. I live on the gulf coast (10 miles from beach) with temps around 90 already and humidity from 70-100 % throughout the summer. Is there anyway to recommend a proper plug for me ? Of course its the standard button. Would odonnel #99 cold be right or odonnel #100 medium ? Im wanting to place an order with amain but Im waiting to find out about the plugs. Thanks for answering everyones questions to include mine. My next engine will be one of yours. Probably a plus 4.

Also, can I run byrons gen 2 30% without adding shims or should I stay with 20% ?

the problems you are having are definitely not the engine , as far as the collet i really coudn't tell ya . i would definitely not recommend a 300* preheat douglas

you should not have to get a pre heat over 220*

i am pretty sure there is some gobbly gook inside the engine if it is so tight that you cant even come close to turnin it over

you dont need to add any shims to the plus 4 engines as they already come at .80mm . billy was telling me that the novarossi engine guys from italy had added one .10mm shim to the .80mm shim stack for a total of .90mm and it made more runtime . not so sure about it but i might try it .

anyway tom, no shimming necessary . i will be down for the nitro cross race . you just never know , i might pack up and head down one of these weekends in the summer

higher humidity tends to like a cooler plug . i have never tried those dynamite plugs in 8th scale but only 10th scale gt .are they long plugs for novarossi ?

the odonnell plugs are pretty good imo , i would just get a few of each 2-99, 2-100 , 2-77 . my best guess is the engine will run the best with the 99 plug but will perform better with the 77 but go through plugs a little quicker .

btw what is your engine not doing that you would like it to ?

well , big block nitro engines do not perform very well with 20% nitro , so i would recommend using gen2 30/11 . you should add one .10mm shim but its not gonna destroy the engine , i can add a shim for ya if ya ship it here .

monty

if it feels like your engine is not performing up to snuff it is more than likely the 20% fuel

Why??? for the past 2 or 3 years I've only used 20/12 and 20/10 without problems, and my engines are allways the fastest or among the fastest. I always shim my engines for it though.

Hey Monty how many shims do you add to the 5k? What are the benefits? Would it feel like it has less compression?
