i would recommend if you are keeping that for good back up to send it to Rex Welch (22racer)to have it pinched and i would check bearings to make sure all good and replace with con rod and get another boot on there. if cant get one msg russell(rocket42) he may be able to get you one. Rex does an awesome job and im going to keep sending motors to him . The new gen motors are just as good as the older ones to me, but im sure others see differences. just my opinion thnx Will G

The 3r uses a larger higher quality rear bearing, has a bigger cooling head and comes with a turbo button, Also the timing is not the same.
The 3s is a amazing engine for the money its powerband is very short and it spools up very fast, it can be a benefit on very tight tracks.
All in all the 3r will have a long smooth powerband and the 3s will have a short powerband that spools up fast, both engines get good mileage.

I have the .21 seven port turbo and it had been the best motor I have ever owned. Sent it in to russell here to make sure everything was alright with it over the winter. Will have a brand new one come next spring.

This question is directed to anyone who wants to throw an answer back my way. I'm not new to mod'ing engines or R/C. Just new to R/C with wheels. Anyway... what are common mods to R/C car/truck engines?
Changing bubble volume
changing bubble shape
changing deck height
tapering squish bands
changing Compresion Ratios
changing port timing
"turbo'ing" cranks
and so on...............
Having a boat background Im used to moding the crap out of engines to have peak torque and HP at un-godly RPMs.
Right now my intrest in trucks is ripping down the street, not racing
