What truggy do you run?
The .21 5 port has heaps of torque down low so that would probably suit your track lay out.
I have seen the .21 3 port Pro in a RC8T and it was impressive.
As long as your truggy isnt too heavy the 3 port pro would probably do the job.

Hey Will, have you seen the new VP Pro "Wide" buggy tyres ?
Come in a set of four with standard fronts and new wider rears on new style rims. Available in 802 and 804 models. Got a set of 802's to try out this weekend. Even if they don't perform they certainly look cool (sort of like mini truggy tyres)

Hey guys, i was at eb mods shop for a couple hours today picking up some goodies for my speed motor. On the dyno was a 5p go motor that ed has been playing with. All i can say is wow! I'm gonna have to put my speed motor to rest when the new eb mods go techs come out. Not my place to give details but i will say what a heluva dyno graph. Laid shame to ninja jx & speed motor on the dyno from one end to the other. I wasn't a go motor fan cuz my head still bleeding from trying to adjust those carbs on my friends motors.

new racer. should i just get the 21 3 port standard. and just use that to learn to drive with? im not looking for something bawls out for the first motor. and with this still go with the 0801?
what im looking for
cheap
long lasting
nice power but not uncontrollable
newb friendly
so im thinkin the 3port

The 3PR offers liner power but not in the rage of OS VSpecs or the NR range of engines, but the GO 5 PT will offer similar power bands to OS Vspec and NR 5PT engines.

I would disagree with getting a 5 port as your first engine. The 3 port sport will break in easier and run just as long. It will not have the power of the 5 port but if you are new you will probably drive better with less power. Also people starting out sometime have trouble getting dirt in an engine or not getting it tuned right and can ruin an engine. Atleast you aren't out as much if you bought the sport. With a little modding the sport is a very good engine, I have one I modded that runs right with a 5 port.

Tuning with the long LSN is not really a problem. Check out the tuning tips on page 131 of this thread from Massive Mods and Retro RC. If you follow this advice you will get the max performance out of the Go motors.

hey rex, which one do you think i should go with?? right now i am running a modded 427, but it is dying. i was thinking of the .21 b/c of the fuel econmy but the .28 probably has more power. i am talking about the sport ones by-the-way. i will be putting it in a jammin' x1 truggy. what are your prices on those motors??

If your running a Truggy then the .25 is awesome! There are people running high end .21's that are considering switching to the .25.
Here's a link to my son running his .25 (Kendall) You have to watch a little for the race.
