how long is yr straight?

will it do any harm to an engine if it's max-out on a straight? meaning yr gearing is too short...

I think it is between 60m to 70m... I am not sure how to measure the straight
I don't know if it will harm, but you will be disappointed with the power if you let the gear too short.. see all the RTR cars smashing you in the straight. No kidding

75 mph, I'm not sure about that! I know that the Toledo track and the Cincinnati track have had 1/8 scales that were clocked at 65-68 mph, and I'm sure that the straights are at least 175 ft. Where did you see them clocked at 75 mph ?

This was clocked by a police radar gun at the 2007 sedan nationals track near Houston (on a previous race obviously) there is a small slight S before the 175', I believe the full length of the track is somewhere in the 230 range so you almost start the 175' in 2nd gear.
I believe the absolute fastest sedan was somewhere around the 58-60 range as well but I can't remember for sure because we were so shocked by the 8th scale speeds. Enough police stop by oddly enough even though they claim they are too busy to respond to hit and run accidents (long story, multiple times though) so I'll try and get one to bust out the radar gun again on my new engines coming from IDM for my sedan and my 8th scale. Hopefully the new team mod job is even more rediculous than it was with my last batch, looking forward to seeing them in the next couple of weeks.

i didn't check how many turns from closed though; heard it's not advisable to fully turn-in the screws as it might damage the o-rings or something else...

The durability is not in question we have had nothing but good luck with the engines. We have not had a engine failure due to manufacture issues. Daniele hand assembles the engines so you know that you are getting a engine that was hand fitted as well as modified. I think that the performance of the engines speak for themselves though. In the US we TQ'd both 1/10 and 1/8 scale at the Biggie as well as won the 1/8 class. We placed 2nd in the Capitol classic as well. One the Florida state series and the list goes on. In Europe The engine led a lap ahead of the entire a final until 2 turns before the finish Daniele's battery went south and was unable to maintain the 1 lap lead. So I would say that the engines have done well. If you have any questions please feel free to PM and we will help you out the best we can.

hi all,
currently i'm tuning my .12 IDM, temps at about 120degC, smoke visible...
the thing is after full throttle and off power, my engine would maintain a high idle for about 3s before dropping to normal idle...is it normal?
or i shld richen my LSN slightly?

That is about where I run my LSN and my car only idles high for probably less than 2 seconds after a very hard run. It sounds like you could use a little more fuel on the bottom and lean the top some more, although I don't tune by temperature so I don't know what your reading relates to so the top end is all up to you if the engine is producing smoke and never feels overheated (boggy) then try a bit. These engines have a small window on the HSN to produce insane amounts of power and you might be just short of it.
