Go-Tech Engines Thread

It will unscrew, I'm not sure, but it may be a left hand thread, if you have a pliers with padded jaws, just turn it with the pliers, it wil turn off, I've done with a few of the Go carbs.

Have you tried the .25 with the 0801 pipe yet? I getting ready to, it seems to be more linear, from what I have heard, a friend was using the 2047 pipe with the .25, said, great bottom, top end seemed weak.

finally got to run the new jammin x2 with .25 6 port/hong nor 2027 and it had tons of bottom and little top so im searching some more for the next best pipe. it was running alittle hot still like 280f other than that nothing else. i may go back to .21 for truggy but dont know if 7 port would be ok in truggy or not ? let me know what everyone thinks. i have ran the .21 5 port and ran ok but not balistic like my .25 is now. thnx will g

Hi Guys,
I have a problem with my go 21 3 port sport engine, when running it makes an intermittant "rattle" sound that is definately coming from the engine not the car. I'm pretty new to nitro and have never taken an engine apart before, I've read up about it but if any of you guys might have an idea what it could be before i start work stripping it down that would be fantastic!
Cheers

A rattling sound - Hmmm interesting
Couple of things -
How new is the motor
What temps is it running at
Why I ask, is that newer motors if you run them too cold when they have lots of pinch can make a "tinging" or "pinking" sound which is quite audible.
This is not a good sound as it means the con rod is getting hammered by the piston coming up on the pinch area when the engine temp is too low to allow correct "fit" between piston and sleeve. Not saying this is what's happening in your case, but it could be described as a rattle I guess. If your running below 80 deg C this might be your mystery noise. Bit of a shot in the dark, but all I can think of I'm afraid.
Let us know what you find out

Thanks guys
I'm pretty sure its not the clutch, I took that apart and everything seems secure. The engine is not new - done about 2 gallons of fuel and usually runs at 220-240 F at race pace. I will open it up today and have a look checking the other thinks you have suggested, thanks very much.

No, no pull start, so its not that.
Took it apart today and can't see any thing loose in side, might be the rear bearing - I pushed down on the head when the engine was running and it did go away for a second or two then came back.
Whats the best way of making sure this is the culprit? it's not a cheap component to replace if its not whats causing the issue. Would it be catastrophic to run it until it fails?
How do I best remove it from the crank case as I can see no way to get it out? Sorry for all the questions but as I said i'm abit new to this and although its not an expensive engine I want to take care of it and learn how to service it.
Thanks for all your help so far guys, keep it coming!
