I'm sure you know the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." If you don't mind spending more, you can always get the Noble Pro, the newer 'brother' to the Noble NB4.

Use one way mode, your response time is cut down by over half. Also the FGR4D is the new version of the antenna less receivers and are the enhanced version. I'll be upgrading my race cars to the FGR4D for more features, I'll keep my old FGR4S receivers for the toys.

This was from Marc Rheinard's FB page. Says he's running two way. Is that right? Dunno.

Default Custom charge plug

Hi All,
New to RC cars. I brought a second hand flysky nb4 which didn't come with the battery bank, little did I know I need that for charging and firmware update.
I am trying to see whether I can connect the USB directly to the 4 pins at the bottom. I could see the ground (4th pin when you look from screw side is directly connected to ground of battery, tested with connectivity checker) but the positive is not directly connected to battery so I am fairly confident the charging module is part of the controller and not on the battery bank.
I am just wondering whether it passes 3.5V or 5V from the battery bank to these pins.
Is any one able to put a multimeter to their battery bank on the two extreme pins and say what volts it shows up (I don't have the battery bank so I can't say) Thanks in advance!

Hey,
I just measured it. Initally it shows just zero Volts, only if I press that little button to turn it on, it shows 5,16V. I also checked the connections of the USB cable plug into the Micro USB port and my multimeter beeped when testing the inner two contacts, so it seems as if the data lines of the USB cable are directly passed through to the inner contacts.
Hope it helps, good luck!
Andi

Amazing thanks! Let me just make up the connection and see how it goes! I will modify a 3d someone made before and post with the link to the connector I got from AliExpress. So members who are interested can 3d print their own base with whatever port they prefer micro or type c

It's really not that hard to notice if you actually try. Just drive a well set up car with a Sanwa, Futaba, or Spektrum. And then drive it with the Noble, and it will be obvious. I've done all 4 radios with the exact same car on the same day at the same track back-to-back-to-back.

Bumping these posts out of interest.

Heavily considering an NB4 to replace my 4 year old DX5C, primarily because I can't hear the beep when my timer runs out for refueling my nitro buggy when other nitros are running, and having the radio vibrate/buzz seems perfect.

You bumped an issue the was originally posted August of 2022.....
I'm pretty sure you are safe to proceed.
The rest of us have been enjoying the product without issue all along.

Granted, Calvin Kong's post bumped it much more recently since that was less than 2 weeks ago, and nothing had been said since then.

That's good to hear. I expect I'll buy one, perhaps waiting a bit in case some pricing & release date info surfaces for the new NB4+.

Still was curious what happened there, as Calvin Kong seems to work for Flysky. One says no confirmation / recognition of some steering issue by the manufacturer occurred, the other says it did. Maybe just a misunderstanding somewhere?

Also worth adding since it doesn't appear to be in this thread, Ryan Maifield signed with Flysky 2 months ago and has since continued to win some big pro races with an NB4 Pro. That's pretty rad.

It looks like we'll get to see this new radio tomorrow. I was also looking at those new FGR4D receivers but when I saw pictures side by side they seemed to be about 30%-40% bigger than the FGR4Sv2 which I didn't notice originally.

They are bigger for sure.
With the petite size of the FGR4S and being capable of servo "frequency" set at 400hz, they will still maintain a place in my racing stable.
Here's some side by sides with one of my Sanwa with a broken case (case replacement enroute)
