RC Crew Chief Software
#797
Hello,
so sad to read this news. RIP Bob.
I had contact to Bob some time ago trying to use his software for my large scale RC cars (scale 1:5). But I never found the time to get it working. Now I also have a Mugen MTC2R (scale 1:10) and wanted to buy RC Crew Chief to use it for my Mugen. And now it is no longer available. :-(
Can somebody send me the last free version of the software or a link where I can download it? That would be great and very helpful for me.
Many thanks in advance.
Frank

Just as an fyi, somebody having the latest version doesn't really help unless they can repackage the application for you. The setup.exe that is used for the install reaches out to download the needed files during install. That download repository is gone.

Took me a minute to find the location. It is buried in a folder called apps in my local appdata. Send me you email and I will send you the zip. Although gmail might not like it. If that doesn't work I should be able to put it in github.

Do we need the database of cars? They’re probably long obsolete, or has it been updated in the few years?

In his last days Bob was asking himself what to do with RC3.
Publishing source code on GitHub was an option but he didn't do it.
So I think we have to respect his will as he wrote: RC3 is free but not open source.
Publishing an installation package with the latest version that he has made available (free to all) I think is legitimate compared to what he has left us said.

In the last database should be a few recent 10th scale touring cars like the xray x4, mugen mtc2 and the awesomatix MMX. Not sure how new the other databases are.

So if something needs patching one day it's probably not that hard.
