In capable hands, Im sure the car would be as competitive as other, many people race older cars and as some mentioned, the winner of Round 5 ETS Stock class was driving a Tamiya with a lot of custom mods. If you have piles upon piles of parts (as long as they fit) I'd say go for it.

The car still shares a lot of parts from other platform and part of the design, notably the swaybar mounts, are very out dated. Theres nothing really innovative about the car that stands out from its competitors. The only thing I quite like was the included weights. But other than that the car, to me, was quite boring. I guess part of the reason for the lack of innovation was because they know they will be disbanding the TRF division.

There was a whole list of problems Ive experienced with the car which I wont go into details here, but enough to make me sell my car within 6 months and never looked back

Default Summary after 2 years 419 and 419x

Hello,

short summary after 2 years running Tamiya.
419 - rigid, strong and fast - my sun is running it -on carpet with alu lower deck very fast.

419x very fast - a lot of steering- very consistent.

Diff issue: there is NO!!!
sand down (with 1200 paper) the big bavels to 4.50mm and the small to 4.90mm
use Molykote 55 for Tamiya BLACK O-Ring as in the manual.
since 6 month there are 4 Diffs in my box and there is no leaking....

Damper 419x: ONE blue O-rings as in manual with Molykote 55 and additional 0.3mm shim (inner diameter 4mm)
damper 419: two blue O rings with MK 55
no leaking


thats it.
No XRAY parts.

I understand he custom made this one himself. Milled out space for the belt.

What would be the disadvantage of running the separate 05e blocks in the front? That's what I run now.

Whoops, I've updated the link now in the article but here it is http://www.thercracer.com/2017/05/tr...rives-mod.html

The .5 E block is low enough to miss the belt. A solid block makes the steering a little more responsive (stiffens that part of the chassis). Also note where the lower bulkhead screws are to make the car more twitchy.

if you look at the pics in petitrc from the bottom view, you can see, that the holder is above the belt.

this is why I´m asking for....
It is either upside down with shims underneath or it is a custom mod with some material milled/shaved off.
Was also done back in time with the 416 I believe.

I will ask Christian what it is.

I have an interesting problem. I measured my toe in this morning and noticed that my right rear toe is 2.75 degrees. My left rear toe is 3 degrees. I figure there are a couple of possible reasons for this issue.
1) The holes in the chassis were drilled imperfectly
2) The suspension blocks are imperfect
3) I tweaked the body somehow?
4) The rear arms wore down?

Has anyone else run into this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

Check rear arm shafts. I had one bent and similar effect on toe.

Hi,
Check also ball bearing...some of them have too much play.....
+ check wheel hub installation. That might cause some tweak.

The TB Evo 7 is coming and that is a TRF car. Tamiya have stated that more TRF cars will be coming in the future, so I doubt the 419X WS will be the last.

We might not get a new chassis every 12 months but as long as we get parts etc to keep our cars competitive then it's fine with me (and my bank account)
