The engine is quite different than the p5, the crank has a different diameter and the porting is significantly different. It is a brilliant engine. It likes basically any novarossi pipe, I've tested the 9886, 9901, and the 9853. My personal favorite setup for this engine was 9886/41021 with a 7.5 Venturi. The top end is wayyy better compared to the p5. Mileage is basically the same as a standard p5.

I have a drake with a 9901 and 41021. Fuel mileage is horrible for mine and it didn't last near as long as my reds r7. It produced pretty decent power but the internals are just generic grab off the shelf internals. Nothing special at all. Just another nova with a different color head.

The Drake likes the 41005 manifold ... 9853,9901 seem to be the strongest

Except for a few minor differences with the crank and piston, yeah it's very similar to the p5xlt. Both are solid engines in buggy or truggy.

Is anyone running a mito 7 in buggy? I want to try it. My home track is Thornhill, so ha nice areas to really let the engine unwind. Any recommendations on header and pipe to really get the top end to unwind? I'm coming from Triton and Picco, so my nova experience is limited.

I have recently purchased a Nova Rossi p5XLT and I really like the engine but I am looking for alittle more bottom end punch. I am running a Hotbodies 815v2 with a three shoe clutch. I am also running the 9901 pipe with the 41021 header. I bought a werks 4 shoe light clutch and plan on trying it out my next day of practice. I would like to know if there is anything else I should try other than getting a good tune for the bottom end needle. Thanks

take 0.1 mm to 0.2 mm head shim out....it will wake that engine right up...as well get rid of the 41021 manifold, its a little on the long side and tends to soften the power ...swap to a 41033, 41001 and the engine will improve quite a bit

Hard to believe you want more bottom on a P5. I run Keep Off 4 and have too much bottom. I see so many people leaning the bottom too much to get more run time, but lose bottom end power. Try richening up the bottom a bit. I ran P5's and have tons and tons of bottom even with 9901/41201. Or it can also be your bottom is too rich? Either way, P5 feels just as powerful as my Picco 5TX on the bottom.

i would say after the engine is totaly break in ...after the first galon ,,,yes you can...i aways remove a shim after 3-4 ltrs---...but i stay at 25 fuel ,,,i wouldnt recomend someone to remove a shim while using 30 fuels...and ofcourse after removing a shim you always start with checking how it responds ..looking after the temperature and hearing for strange diferent noises ,,,..there are sometimes that after removing a shim you realise that you need a new rod or a new main bearing...in some engines you need a diferent type of plug...litle colder..sometimes its all superb ...just at the begining after the shim take out you pay attention ,,,,,,,,,then you enjoy ...a more alive engine ,,,and always better botom end...
