Holy crap. What does this accomplish that you can't accomplish with a normal break-in?

Yup that is right Roelof.

I have started delivered of the first limited production of the EBIS units beginning of this week and preparing the rest of the first batch for shipment.

Best regards,
Richard

The initial break-in under fully controlled conditions, perfect lubrication, perfect temperature, fully controlled RPM ... I think it is self-explaining. Subsequently the engine performance & life time is accordingly.

- No burn out bumpstarters
- No scratches on the piston due a tight fit, the piston actually comes out as a mirror.
- No load on the conrod so no replace after the break in
- No wasted time on the track
- No wasted fuel
- No wasted tires
- No wasted glowplug
- Can do it at any moment, even in the winter you can prepare your engines.
- And finally a perfect fit of the piston in the sleeve

I was likely one of the first to contact you

I have been very patiently waiting for your second email to tell me how much they cost....

Very well possible. In case you were really one of the first, I might not have been ready to answer yet at that point of time, since I had never produced such a machine before, other than my personal prototype. You will appreciate it is not a business for me, as I have to do everything in my free time outside my office hours, just trying my very best to satisfy my RC friends around this globe. In case you want to build your own, respect. In case you are still interested having one from my EBIS production units, just drop me a mail.

A mirror-finished piston sounds pretty nice. But how can it break-in the piston and sleeve properly if it doesn't use the connecting rod? The connecting rod determines how far the piston travels upwards in the sleeve, and no other part will produce the exact same fit.

It does use the connecting rod. It rotates the entire rotating assembly via the crankshaft. Since its only spinning a couple hundred RPM's instead of normal operating speeds, the accelerations the conrod experiences is much smaller which results in way lower stress.

WHo said he wasnt using the conrod? Have you read the entire thread and understand how this machine works?

Because there is no combustion heat the piston will run more free through the pinch zone giving less forces on the rod. That together with 100% oil and low speed makes the rod unharmed.
